Off topic we were discussing whether Ayane and Helena's suicide attempts should be considered badass or not?

Let me stop you right there. Many people who attempt suicide don't actually want to die. The problem is that they see it as their only option, objectively true or not. Cases vary, and this isn't even getting into the argument that sometimes suicide could be a rational decision depending on certain circumstances. I wouldn't speak in such an absolute manner if I were you.

Still it went to personal opinions on suicide which as it was said is not exactly the better use of the casual thread. Im not even going to discuss the whole "how badass is suicide"

Helenas, yes, ayanes, no. But helenas only for the dramatic flair. AAnd nothing about ayane is or can be badass (except staying ahead of Ryu in ninja Gaiden).

I think it's time that i don't look at this thread for a while. How this whole conversation went put a really bad uneasiness in my stomach.Suicide is under no circumstance something to be glamorized but in it's totality it's extremely ugly from being in that situation and what that situation details after it.

Yeah not gonna get into it as well but distinguishing suicide from sacrifice which is what Helena did. She wanted to destroy the evil corporation and was willing to sacrifice her life in exchange. Ending her life was not the primary intention it was just what would result. Much like when a firefighter goes into a burning building or a cop enters a building with armed men. In the back of their mind they know they can die but that's a risk worth taking for them.
