I think that wouldn't make any difference, Irene in the end is a side character not playable in NG2 (called "Sonia"), DOA Dimensions, and NG3:RE. If you was never interested to her until now, I doubt that something could make change your opinion before of her getting a "character in the roster" status
In addition to the usual love for female characters from the majority of the DoA fanbase, the character got a real popularity just after the release of DoA Dimensions: not only for a more inspired change of look from NG2, but overall for the revelation that - as vaguely hinted by Itagaki in the past - the character was actually the remake version of the famous Irene Lew from the Ninja Gaiden trilogy for Nes.
It's overall such concept to appeal to the fans, after a such discovery wishing for a more active - and heroical - return of this character on the game scene, in perfect parallel with her predecessor.
In addition the fact to get this character with a background already implemented in the series' universe from DOA

, to have the possibility to see attribuited easily a fighting style (she is a C.I.A. agent), and to see it for the third time included in a TN's game but not playable, definitely acted as a great motivational for her fandom, that now is making hear its voice more loudly than in the past.
