What would you guys think if the next DoA did time skip, let's say another twenty years? Would you accept youthful replacements or would you rather the same cast we have now with added wrinkles & mild greys (For a few of them anyway haha)? Would Gen Fu be fighting while tubed up to a wheelchair? Would Zack act more mature now that he is ten years more huskier? Would Bass have a Rob Zombie that would make the world's best gnomes green with envy? What of Tina? Any sign of sag yet? Will Lei Fang still be shadowing Jann Lee like a gimp with dirty knees? At the very least it would be interesting to see now-a-man Elliot sparring with Hitomi, who is now passed that white-picket-fence, girl-next-door phase of her life. Would Ryu Hayabusa still be able to perform Izuna Drops with the air-times that he does twenty years later without tweaking a bone?

Most importantly, imagine the fan response!? Food for thought.

I loved your cases! XD

More seriously, usually to substitute a character for a timeskip don't work ever: the fighting games that tried to do it received always more complaints than other from the old fans (think to Tekken 3 or SC5), thing that then force the series to take a step back, looking for ways to bring back the old characters.

Personally I would be instead eager to see old versions of the characters, but with DoA being a series so focused on the girls fanservice, how the fans and the developers could accept to age girls that are supposed to show a beauty derived from her youth? (not saying that they wouldn't be able to appear beautiful also as matured women).

So I think that this is an impossible scenario for our series, at the most available in a peculiar "what if" episode (that anyway would keep the young versions of the characters too).

Haha yeah true man. Hayabusa will probably pass on his Izuna Drop epicness to a new generation of baby-faced Busa's to ensure that the Izuna Drop will never die.

In the case of SCV with a 17 year time skip, they scrapped all the original and cool females (Setsuka, Cassandra, Taki etc.) with young whiners (e.g. Pyrrah) or bimbos (e.g. Natsu). However, I don't think TN would want to age their poster girl, Kasumi, or any of the other ladies for that matter O_O. So, I think if they did a time skip, new characters would replace them just like SCV. Maybe the girls will look similar to their older counterpart, but they'll have bigger boobs to show they inherited some similar genes XD.

Yeah i am in agreement with you guys on the time skip thing & i think the same applies to every fighting game. If you're going to alter the game or take it into a new direction, i personally don't think fast forwarding the characters age or removing iconic characters is the way to go about it imo. It wouldn't be well received by too many i would think & rightly so too.

Speaking of Pyrrah, she makes me laugh during battle

*Kicks guy in the short & curlies*

"Are you in pain?"

*Kicks guy in the short & curlies again*

"It must hurt!"

*Repeatedly stabs guy on the floor with sword*

"Please forgive me!"

*Bashes guy's head in with shield*

"I don't want this!"

*Guy lies dead on the floor*

"Not my fault, you bought this on yourself"

Such an apologetic lass! :D

We have our own character like that

"I can't avoid this fight!"

XD ah those quotes are so funny and out of place. Even as my main in SCV I couldn't take her seriously in battle lol

Unrelated to everything but I need to share my late discovery (even if I'm sure that very likely everyone already know it, I saw how this info was also written on the DoA wikia...)

I just realized yesterday replaying NG2 as the "golden leon with scythe on red background", symbol of the fiend Lycanthrope Tribe present inside and outside the castle of Aqua Capital (inspired to the Italian city of Venice) and on the armors of the same Lycanthropes, is the same symbol present in the modern redesign of the Lorelei stage:

According to the NG mythology, the Lycanthropes (or Werewolves) ruled in the ancient times on a region of the modern Europe: so make sense that even the Helena's castle in France Germany can be placed in their previous owned land (with the later medioeval ruling class of humans of that place idolizing them in their paintings).

This kind of hidden details for the fans are always my favourite ones :D

"Are you a mind gamer? RT @CheapStevo: The new female Tengu @TeamNINJAStudio has been hinting at looks interesting. I expect this means Phase 4 hits consoles soon."

"Might be the delusion. RT @Jeeveerz: @TheKitsuneKami @TeamNINJAStudio this looks allready better then Tengu :) I want to see the full image!!"

I love when TN tries to be clever with their replies to tweets but it ends up making no sense

No I don't like mindgames they could have shared those full pictures in the first place that would make sense.

This female Tengu will turn out to be a photoshop if it is actually real Tengu?LOL. Pictures look blurry but this is joke of course :)

True XD But in the end you can be able to get the meaning: the language barriers are always been one a bad thing for the world (in this case like in more serious ones).

Hmm...I think, they just recycled textures.
TN designer 1: Let's add some ripped banners to the lowest level of the stage. It'll look totally cool and spooky! :D
TN designer 2: Yeah... But they look kinda lame like that... Should we give them some design or something? :/
TN designer 3: How about, we put the Lycanthrope Tribe emblem on it? It fits the Halloween theme and we already made that...so, just copy and paste! ;)
TN designer 1: Awesome! :D No overtime work today! Also, people will totally believe there's some deeper meaning to it, lol. xD

Lorelei is also actually situated in Germany not France, high above the river Rhine. It's a place that actually exists. You can google it. ;)

oberes-Rheintal-Burg-Katz-Lorelei.jpg

Even though it's not in France, it's just perfect as Helena's castle, as Lorelei or Loreley was a beautiful siren, with long golden hair, sitting on top of the rock above the river...luring ships, that came across, into death...

Loreley_Hoffmann227__500x783_.jpg

Helena is beautiful and blond and was incarcerated by Christie in one of the castle's towers overlooking the river, wasn't she? There we actually have some deeper meaning in TN ideas. :)
