DLC characters...not entirely out of the question

Now in the last round of interviews a point was made to explicitly say no paid DLC characters. Reading this new interview reinforces my thoughts that they may release some characters for free as DLC. Feel free to interpret how you want to but this is yet another instance where they've said no to paid DLC characters but didn't rule it out entirely as a free option. This one seems even more clear. Thoughts?

Ein, Gen Fu, and Leon. Let's go.

Translation and choice of words are odd, I wouldn't really rely on this interview. What's clear is they aren't doing paid DLC characters, but hearing their stance on the DLC character concept, they didn't come off as actually being into it, since they would mention how it hurts balance. So whether it's free or paid DLC characters shouldn't matter.

Rachel and Momiji, off the bat. I already know Ein's going to be in the game..

I'm relying on two interviews with nearly the same wording from two different sources.

Phoenix Wright-style? That'd be hilarious actually, though not sure how good it would be in a 3D fighter.

How do you know for sure they won't be DLC characters?

Death and taxes are the only certain things in this world. So with that said, no one knows what's 'for sure' or not. With this, though, Hayashi said he wants to keep DOA and NG as two separate entities. So we can only go by what the head guy in charge says. If he goes back on what he said, then ok, whatever (more characters in the game). For right now, only Ryu will be coming from the NG world.

As much as people want Ein, I seriously think Hitomi's dad should just get the move set and Hayate should get some of Ein's "clothes", stuff thats not Ninja related like Kasumi and Ayane do.

As far as my DLC guesses . . . I'd say everyone who's not in but was from DOAD.

I'd want :kasumi: Alpha with an upgraded move set, :raidou: JUST CUZ DAMMIT! And maybe :genra:, but :tengu: can burn in limbo.

Don't see what the big deal about ein is, he no longer exists and shouldn't waste a slot on him. i agree with the other guy who says give his moves to hitomii's dad with new crap mixed and and his clothing options to hayate

He plays significantly different from Hitomi's style and transplanting most of his best moves would mean choosing between Ein and Hitomi's moves. He's a valuable part of the roster. I would be OK with Gill's suggestion if Hitomi's dad was a straight-up clone. I don't care about Ein as a character; I care about his playstyle.

Because people have been asking about those two forever and Hayashi shut them all down by straight up saying he doesn't want those two characters in the DoA universe.
You got a link to the interview/video w/e in which he said that ?
