It's honestly a stretch, but I think they should just throw Jô Hayabusa or Muramasa into the mix.

I can't believe some people get so worked up because there are a few more females than males in doa (not talking about you in particular Tyaren).
In other fighting games the males outnumber the females 2:1, 3:1 or even 4:1 and yet nobody in those communities ever complains when new males are announced. Whereas doa has 17 females to 14 males and yet some people act as if the cast is 90% female.

You say it by yourself. Every other fighting game have way more males, that's why we complain about DOA having more females(Even if there only 3 more) because no other game does it.

Indeed objectively I consider the current situation of the roster of DoA5U pretty well balanced between females and males, I also like this uniqueness of the game... but we know that it's not for a sex equality matter that DoA has many females in the roster: I have fear that if the fans of the male characters don't make hear now their voice, with DoA6 we could end to get a big gap between the gender with an high increase of female characters. Not that I have something against them (I'm also hoping for Irene), it's only that we know how DoA can be ruled from the fanservice and it's easy to predict as a massive majority of women in the game could led to various consequences (some of them already visible now).

However there is also to say that the consideration of the current roster is in part influenced by the kind of characters that we got: from DoA5 to DoA5LR, the roster get added 6 male characters against the 8 female ones (including the 2 unknown). I believe the male characters give the impression to be less just because in the end we got only 1 original one (Rig) and then 2 guests and 2 [3?] from the past of the series, against the more originality in the women side: but considering the numbers is objectively a really good attention to the male gender for a game that has its popularity on the female characters.

This!
Mark my words, if we don't speak up now, DOA6 will be all female, solely clothed in tooth floss or nurse costumes, feeding each other ice cream and frolicking on the beach in full HD glory and brand new OMGWTF!!! breast bounce technology. Oh wait, that's just DOA Xtreme 3... ;D

My opinion, but I don't see a problem with more female over male. This will probably be one of the ONLY fighters that favor the female in number- and I have no issue with that. Most of the time it's like 6-13/14 with the larger number being male. Not sure why everyone is so distraught over the game losing it's gender balance. Look at other fighters and tell me that males don't dominate the cast. Never understood why people cared so much about gender balance yet when guys dominate the cast, nobody makes a peep.

I agree and like I said I express my opposition not for the fact in itself but for the consequences that could bring (in a game as DoA) to continue to get female characters over males without doing anything: I'm perfectly fine if the roster will end to be always with a slight majority of women even in the future.

I get, why many people were disappointed by this presentation and told me, when I missed it, I shouldn't even bother, watching it. :/ It was just maybe a dozen fights on one and the same stage. After three fights I wasn't much interested anymore and let the stream run in the background, doing other things. Not a very good way to showcase a game for the first time, for which anticipation has to build first, because many still think, it's just the same old in a new wrapping. Well, it actually is, but don't confirm this so easily to people! XD I'm sure, in the end there will be quite enough new content in this game...but right now, I'm actually a little disinterested and oversaturated. I think, they could have done a better job, even without showing too much content, that might not be completely finished or is supposed to be a secret right now. But, I guess, Tecmo-Koei knows, what they are doing, so...

After the stream several gaming sites are reporting of Ultra Street Fighter, Guity Gear Xrd and Tekken 7, but there's hardly anything to be found about DOA5LR. :(

It's really not so much about gender balance, it's more of a recognizability issue. You see other fighters with less female characters but has just about the same amount of recognizability as their male characters (i.e. People being able to recognize both Ryu and Chun-Li, Jin Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu, Kilik and Xianghua, etc.).

DOA on the other hand lacks that factor and degrades their male character's existence down to extinction.
