I don't think she'll be a pirate but she will definitely have an eyepatch since that's so moe these days. This is a rough approximation of what I am expecting
Beautiful. Definitely the next-door type that you'd want to take home to your mother (I'm referring to the left boob...the right one is too shiny and seems like a diva tbh).
On a more serious note, anyone think it's possible new girl will have some moves from Genra incorporated into her moveset? If we were going down the pirate route, the Tyrant stance could technically work if you replaced the light saber or whatever he had with a sword. I know this wouldn't be perfect (Genra spins the saber like a baton which wouldn't be that effective with a sword) but it could possibly work.

Ninjas vs Pirates is a life long debate is why. Most people seem to square off Pirates and Ninjas for some weird reason. But like I stated earlier, skulls = punk/goth/rock/anarchist. Whether you agree with it or not, if you look at actual styles, 90% of skulls are on the listed clothing types.
And of course, the other option is pirate. What else contains skulls? I don't know anything else outside of the styles I listed that would run around in skull patterned black gloves whilst donning pink hair...
My guesses are either; She's some kind of idol j-rocker girl, She's a pirate, or she's some random punk girl with an over-the-top style. I could be wrong, we could all be wrong and it turns out she's some senran kagura cross-over and we've all been fooled!!! lmao. Time will tell.
Has the ninja vs pirate debate even been relevant in recent times? I haven't seen anyone bring that shit up in at least six years.

I feel like her only real importance is to Marie Rose, I mean of course there is that comical jealousy over "when are my breasts going to come?" and all the controversy surronding all the big-titteh-women and the omg mode. So to take away the heat they add MORE small-titteh girls and now we have a new/returning MALE to take our eyes away from all the slutty skimpy dlc (Looking at you intimite dlc ayane) and you know all the attention that the tits get and the men lack. so they dragged out her appearence untill the 15th so we have something to do besides constantly bringing up their faults which they don't want to correct. Because japanese men (and women) love big titteh kasumi/rachel where they are in "swimsuits"/nip covers and pus-puss covers

As much as I'd prefer a pirate, this is a good prediction. Harada and Hayashi seem to be close and I almost want to believe they get the inside scoop of what the other team is doing. If Harada is doing LC and Hayashi knew about it he may have been inspired to create a similar character of his own (or vice versa). Then looking at her hair, it is an unnatural hair color in the DOA universe so I'm assuming she dyes it like some do in punk/rocker styles. Ayane and Nyo have unnatural hair colors but one's not human and the other is Raidou's daughter so they're the exceptions to the rule. Then when she says "Wait a sec! Promise me you won't tell anyone", assuming it's a real quote it is most likely a winpose (just based off of the way she says it). The only reason I'm assuming someone would say a quote like that is if they are protecting their reputation (like Lili in Tekken) and if she was an idol it would make sense as she wouldn't want people to know that she fought.
TL;DR Maybe this is DOA's Lucky Chloe.. O_O

Also, even when it did come up, I wanted to bitchslap anyone who tried to use "naruto" for "ninjas vs pirates'. THEY ARE BATTLEMAGES YOU FUCKTARD. Zabuza, his 3 henchman, and the Anbu were the only ninjas in the series. fuck off.

honestly I think a pirate in the DOAverse would be pretty cool where they would be a mix of modern day and classic. I'm thinking modern day Kenway, fights dirty as fuck with a cutlass,with light armor underneath a long hooded coat, and in place of typicall pistols they would just carry a six shot magnum.
Yeah so far I like what I'm thinking of more than whatever we are getting. Then again we aren't getting a pirate.

I assume that the pirate idea is a possible one (but again far from being certain) only because the girl has high chances to be created in collaboration with the team of Senran Kagura that promotes characters with a fantasy setting and background. In other circumstances I would think only that the skull is just a fashion element of the character but not related to a pirate status, thing that by the way could still be the case even now.
This is a nice idea, by the way I still think that there are more chances to see part of Genra's moveset implemented in Raidou (we still need to get confirmations of that apparent "sword of energy" showned in the pictures of Famitsu).

If she was a guest character that happened to be a pirate I wouldn't really care however fitting her into the DOA world she would have to deal with the ruthlessness of the NG side of things. look at how brutal our Ninjas and Alchemist are, these are two groups that aren't exactly known for their brutality. to make sense NG pirates would have to be at least equal or much worse.
I get there are other types of pirates that aren't like that in other media and that's fine, but they don't make sense in DOA

No, i don't want to stab someone when i hear her voice and as long as she's an interesting pop idol i wouldn't care. I don't want none of this pandering waifu bullshit. athena asamiya was a perfect example on how to do an idol correctly, so if they base it similarly to her i don't think a lot of people would mind.

My point is just this, if the character was thought using the concept of it coming from Senran Kagura (even if in the end should be a never seen before one owned from the DoA franchise and not a guest), then make sense to consider a possibitlity to include an "absurd" character in the roster. The distance from the standard of the DoA series would be used as a distinctive trait of the co-work of a different team, at the same time even paying homage to the SK "father" series.
But of course all this can be equally obtained without creating a character drastically different from the standard (as a kawaii pirate), so I'm just depicting this outcome without believing that this has to be the only possible solution (even because let's remember that the premises of a collaboration with SK are just an hypothesis and not a fact): an idol for example could work pretty well in giving a Japanese vibe, using clichè from anime works, and at the same time acting as something "realistic" for the DoA universe.

I vote Rio. I think she'd be a good fighter honestly. But again, we need more guy fighters...so I vote for a new male character.
A theory I had is ridiculous but still less rediculous than pirates was that she might be in a biker gang.
Normally that would be absurd but assuming she's Asian as the west does not dress like that, it makes a but more sense. Those thick gloves remind me of a skid suit and the skull and dyed hair could be a sort of "cute punk" style dying your hair in Japan was assumed as rebellious behavior. we know gangs have themss so what if this "cute punk" thing was theirs? also in gangs you need to know how to fight she might actually have that "street" style some were hoping for if that's the case. Honestly if it was something like that I'd be fine.
