Finally got to play this game over the weekend when I helped out at a local con. From not really caring, I'm am not soundly impressed. The game goes about being newbie friendly in a better way than most previous efforts to do so (BB, SFIV, etc.). Even not knowing any BnBs, I was at least able to do decently against guys who had spent time doing the game simply because it is easier to punish and apply fundamentals, even if you are just punishing with "auto-combos" (which do less damage compared to when you do them manually).

Also, Mitsuru I <3 you so bad! Whoever made it so that a character with godlike, long range normals could frame trap all day is a GENIUS!

Mitsuru is top tier right? I mean she was my favorite character in P3 so for me it was between her and Chie. TT4L (top tier for life!)

It was Yosuke I believe pre-patch. Mitsuru became tops after, that said, she was high tier in the first place (pre-patch).

I am not particularly interested in this game, but I think that Atlus has done a phenomenal job in marketing it though. There seems to be articles every day about this game on Eventhubs and Siliconera.

Got my first taste of the game at my RanBat last night. Gotta say, I like it a lot so far, had a lot of fun.

But I thought you wanted someone like Chipp? Yosuke fits the bill - low health, low damage.

Sticking to Mitsuru. She's reminds me of Cammy without one frame links or Milia from GG. Might also pick Liz as a second, just so I can spam "disruptor" and "shield slash" all day.

Yosuke was my first instinct but he isn't nearly as fast as Chipp was. Besides that, Chipps movement was all about teleporting and zig zagging across the screen at ridiculous speeds. With Yosuke I feel like I'm playing with a yoyo instead. Too much bouncing.

Akihito has really limited movement in the air, but on the ground he's a goddamn lightning bolt. Close enough.

The one room I finally did start winning in eventually kicked me. I guess thats my reward for minor improvement.

Heh... biggest problem ive got with 2d fighters is the length of combos and the speed at which they need to be input. I can practice something for hours in training mode but the second i go into a real match the stress of an actual fight gets to me and all of that muscle memory goes right out the window.

Despite the fact it's 2D though, the design is great... it's good to play a fighter and not be completely disgusted with how chicken the developers were being.

This tends to apply only to a specific subset of fighters though (i.e. airdashers, aka animu fighters + Marvel). And for alot of folks (especially Marvel players like Fanatiq, FChamp, etc.) handling that stress is just another skill to learn, which is why you see these guys (esp. Fanatiq) doing better in long sets (FT10, FT15).

And in any case, there's always spamming ZiodyneDisruptor with ElizabethMarvel-chan. Either that, or play BlazBlueHitStopForAgesTheGame.
