Now I'm still more sure that was made a previous inner selection, indeed even this pool act like a further one. In the English version it's mentioned like in the end only 12 of these pictures - the most voted ones- will end to get the possibility to be voted even from the audience and the jury at the DoA Festival

By the way I think that this is a shame, I can understand this selection for the final festival stage but I would have loved to see currently at least the entries of everyone allowed to be partecipants of the competition. On a sidenote partially the same thing for the Halloween costumes, even if I want hope that TN not showing them could mean a more likely use of them in future even outside Halloween (it would be nice).

I totally forgot what was going on. Need to watch the save gameplay again. When this happened in the middle of the fight, I was like "WTFLOL" and so I saved it to snap later.

No offense, but some of the entries that made it are really pointless. Especially the Marie Rose ninja outfit in the cool group, or the cute group where it's just Hitomi doing her rawr taunt in her bunny bikini. I also stupidly assumed photos with the copyright on the bottom wouldn't make it in, it's not that hard to figure out how to take proper photos with PS4/Xbox One/PC. Even the PS3 version has a handy converter tool for changing the save files of photos into .png formats.
I REALLY thought all the photos submitted would be available for voting, I was really looking forward to seeing some of my own stuff along with just a huge variety of other creative/unique ideas.
Not knocking on ALL of them however; The demon Hayabusa one engulfed in flames I saw on twitter when it was first uploaded and I instantly thought it was really badass for an in-game DOA5 photo.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they found out I also did some editing, but not in the conventional way. What I do with my photos is I take multiple zoomed in pictures and stitch them all together for higher resolution photos. The pictures I submitted were ones I already had before the contest because I made them for my own entertainment. I just sized them down to 1920x1080 and hoped they wouldn't mind.
I don't think they would mind. If people can use glitches and mods in their photos and not have any flak from TN, than I don't editing in different fashion will be any different. I still think that they selected their personal favorites, and let those be the ones that people could use vote. Or maybe they haven't uploaded all the images yet, and will do it before the deadline.

I believe that they had to make a very hard selection: I'm sure that you got your time for selecting the best shots, but some people very likely were able to send them how much pictures they wished spending few seconds for each of them. It was virtually possible for each person to send thousands pictures inside the deadline, I think that Team NINJA could have been literally invaded from pictures. Maybe a selection of 12 pictures for category is too much small, but thinking about was realistically impossible to think that all the pictures would have been posted from TN: if the event got the same success of the contest designer, this time very likely they got the number of designs multiplied x5 (at least).
By the way your entries were really good, my favourite ones are the 2nd, 4th and 5th one. But the names? How you entitled these pictures? =)
