Not really because while Vivi is more iconic and has equal ties to Kuja...Terra already stole his one main gimmick he could have when it comes to EX Mode and otherwise, he'll just be another same Black Mage type in a sea of them. Atleast Dagger can be added in the same way Y'shtola is being made for, especially since it seems it will head that way.
But Dagger is primarily a summoner. Outside of that, Eiko even trumps her as a white mage.

We may as well put in Eiko instead, since she acts as a second priority leader when Zidane isn't around (yes, it's true, lol.)

That mattered for Vaan for American fans?
It's currently in Japan...:p

That really doesn't hold weight when FFX added Yuna and yet Wakka is the most powerful party member and Rikku is the most versatile.
Same with Tifa when Barret and Vincent had the Overflow glitch and Laguna over damn near the rest of the FF8 squad?

I wonder if other characters from spin offs will be in the game.
Like that dude from Mystic Quest (if they put in a Battle 2 remix I will be jolly), or the main Clavat in Crystal Chronicles (although I'd prefer another race to be represented... I'm sure a Selkie girl or boy will bring attention), or Paine, etc. . Will they take the Curtain Call route?

Unrelated to what I just wrote, but I'd like to see Faris and Aeris the most. Then Edward and a chainsaw, I guess!

Celebrating Halloween Square Enix posted one of FFXV's monsters, called "Numb Blades".

Except in the case of FFIX, Quina and Amarant (Salamander) were the most powerful and versatile party members in and out of Trance, with everyone else being situational at best.

Zidane was an average character at best, and was particularly useful in stealing useful items from bosses. In battle, he's an average damage dealer that's naturally better in Trance (with damaging Dyne specials to boot) and requires finding all the treasures (including sidequests) to utilize his "free max damage" special Thievery.

Freya's a great asset early on with skills like Reis's Wind and White Draw, but even in Trance she's an average damage dealer, with her best offensive option being her "free max damage" special Dragon's Crest, which requires killing a lot of dragons to maximize its damage.

Steiner is as straightforward as it gets, with occasionally useful skills like Charge when your party's in a pinch. If you're in Trance, #freedamagefuckyeah

Vivi's black magic is only as good as often as you use Focus.

Dagger's a bit on the weak side in white magic, but her offensive summon magic is decent. However, to utilize it best, you must have her in Trance and have her summon an Eidolon only once. If you skip her turn, she'll use the recently selected Eidolon an infinite number of times without ever using up the Trance gauge. The only downfall is that she's unable to act, and the trick resets when she dies.

Eiko by comparison is easily the best white mage of choice, but like others in the cast, she leaves some things to be desired that both Amarant and Quina provide. Chief among them, the ability to use Auto-Life, utilize guaranteed instant-kill options for stronger enemies, and best of all, a fighting chance against an army of 3 Yans - the most powerful non-boss characters in the game - without getting a party member ejected.

Rant aside, I never said nor intended to imply Eiko was overpowered. I only mentioned she was more useful (as a white mage) and had better leadership qualities than Dagger. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I understand that, I was only saying the point that you used was that the most powerful characters would get into Dissidia by my point I made earlier.

I disagreed with that point mainly because while Vivi is THE character of FFIX, his moveset sadly would not really make him all that worth it in the game since Terra has his main Trance schtick(ironically with her Trance) and pretty much every other character is a Black Mage as well so Vivi would just be redundant despite his popularity.

Meanwhile Eiko COULD be in Dissidia, but it would be unlikely since the game's seem to also like picking people with strong ties to the main protagonist and/or villain and Garnet has that in spades compared to Eiko. Just saying.

But Vivi IS the Black Mage, he looks like a typical Black Mage. I expect him to be in the game since Black Mages are so iconic and cute.

I'm not sure if he could get in before others from FFIX, but I think he is a very plausible choice.

You are acting like I hate Vivi, I honestly don't. I'm just saying they will have to put in way more work in Vivi's moveset than anyone else in FFIX that could be obvious examples because a good majority of characters are Black Mage users and Terra has his Trance gimmick.

You probably won't care, but celebrating Halloween SE posted another FFXV monster, that you will only encounter at night, the Naga:

Uuhh... no... I was just saying why IMO Vivi would make sense even if his moveset is taken, no hard feelings.

I honestly cannot find a shit to give about FFXV, I waited almost ten years for a demo that disappointed me. Now they're out there looking at rocks in nature to put them in the game an it's like yeah that's cool I... guess. Three things have impressed me- the large scale of settings and monsters that gives you a sense of how small you really are (I've always found this fascinating), that malboro part of that trailer, and the summons. What hasn't impressed me are the dull settings themselves and the fighting system which are both extremely important. The animations and graphics are pretty good but that's not everything.

yeah i pretty much feel the same, game looks absolutely gorgeous but its a shame its looks very boring as well. if i really cared about shiny looking cars id play a Forza game. even with its modern aspect i think it resembles real life way too much considering their tech and style should have evolved much differently from ours when magic and monsters are accounted for. like why would you drive a dinky little sportscar when giant monsters can appear from anywhere.

aside from that has anyone been playing FF14? ive recently gotten into it and im struggling to keep my mind focused when i have to keep track of all these different classes all of which level up separately and all the missions that come with them.

I play FFXIV and honestly...I feel the same way to the point I burnt myself out and just waiting on 3.1 to be honest.

I chose to limit the workload between 7 alts but the leveling process is still a pain to grind for DPS classes due to the queue times(which doesn't help that the game has a horrible habit of having it's content be dated at the end of every patch).

Hopefully with the addition of High Level Roulette dungeons giving XP and 51+ dungeons giving more XP, the 50-60 grind is much less painful and tedious.

They are not scouting rocks at this moment, lol. They did this a long time ago and you can already look at these rocks in Episode Duscae. They just throw out some old info in the meantime to keep their core fans interested and invested. There are fans, who love every tidbit of information they can get. Like me for example. Sometimes the FFXV marketing department seems to act a little clumsy and naive...but it is just as naive on the consumer side to believe a) everything they show is absolutely recent and b) the only thing they got. The game is scheduled for next year and right now it's about 70% finished. Do you honestly think they are still scouting rocks? Please! XD
The same reaction happened when fans were asking about the black haired girl...

jKrfkLc.jpg

...and Tabata at that time just said, she is still in the game and everyone on the team would call her the raven haired girl. Everyone in the forums was like. "OMG, they don't even know her name yet. So lame!" Yeah...that's actually not what Tabata said! He just didn't want to release that information yet. Now we know that she's called Gentiana. They wanted to wait for that reveal, when they were also talking about Lunafreya, because Gentiana is her close assistant and apparently plays a vital part in the story.

Of course this artwork was also just quickly sketched 5 minutes before that Active Time Report and Tabata made up her name in the pee break before the show. ;) People just love to hate FFXV. For good reason maybe, but it's a little out of hand and irrational.

On FFXV:
Judging by its development hell, I'd say the situation would be good even if the game ends up being at least decent. Games that take so long usually tend to be bad...
My opinion on it is that it looks too commercial for my tastes. I will take the responsability of being called a hipster now, but my ideal JRPGs are Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Cross and Baten Kaitos (to an extent I could say Xenogears, although it has such issues I can't say it's ideal). FFXV doesn't seem to have any of the things I look for in the genre, and the things it does are not that impressive to me (Xenoblade and Xenoblade X already do the badass foreshortening and they both have more intriguing art styles).
Long story short, I'm not interest and I try my best to not badmouth it even if I didn't play it lol.

On FF hate:
Every FF has a hatedom. It's such a polarizing series, if FFXV gets haters I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Like, you can't have a general opinion on any of the titles because there's always a fair share of people shitting on them.

The worst is when you get influenced by these opinions: for years I didn't want to try FFVII cuz Xenogears fans used to say it was overrated. As a Xenogears fan I listened to them... but then I grew up and decided to form my own opinion on it, and boy were they wrong. FFVII might not be perfect but it's such a nice experience.
I'm a honest believer that many fandoms have some people simply parrot what others say instead of trying things for themselves, and that's an impression the FF fandom gives me. Too many times I see people talk shit so casually of certain titles...
Example: when they call Cloud an emo. I refuse to believe that anyone who played FFVII thinks a character that's so obviously depressed is an emo... Cloud' sadness is very well justified and you can't simply tell him to grow a pair.
