Look at the first batch of videos, Rig vs Elliot at the 2:06 / 2:08 mark not really sure... Elliot stuns Rig, Rig counters inmediatly after the hit, and recovers in time to block the next mid attack (he does it specifically with a low hold... Rig gets stunned, he holds low, and blocks the next attack)
Same problem was in DOA4... if you are fast and precise enough, it becomes a free get out of jail card vs a lot of moves.
The hold is 30 frames in total. If an opponent holds during stun, that's 30 frames before they can block again. Most stuns can be slow escaped down to less than 30 frames, so even if a counter is allowing the defending player to block the next attack, it's because the offensive player was slow, not because of the counter.
I did think that but it's been reported that everyone is more unsafe than before, and there is no way they made Ayane incredibly safe. I'd wager money on that
I wouldn't yay just yet dude, I'd lay money down that these players are just playing bad. They are not even attempting to throw punish. Plus I'll call BS if Kasumi becomes safe, it's the only thing that makes characters like her and Ayane balanced.
I can't say much about the last batch of video (the Bayman series) because I wasn't watching them play for the most part. But in all previous videos, I can assure you that punishment was happening very often.
You have to remember that the people playing are good players. They won't just toss out random unsafe attacks and hope that the opponent won't punish. If they do use an unsafe attack, it has a follow-up, which prevents the opponent from punishing.
Not trying to be offensive, but I've played the game A LOT more than you have. You should probably have a little more faith in what I say about these matches.
Just watched the latest batch of match videos and am sad to say I was sorely dissappointed. 9 matches uploaded and all featured Bayman. Only 3 other characters, Kasumi, Jann Lee, and Hitomi, were even used. Hitomi and Bayman are two of my mains but it would have been nice to see some variety. Dang. Guess I'll have to hold out for more vids
Over the course of the three days you received match videos for Kasumi, Ayane, Bass, Rig, La Mariposa, Christie, Tina, Leifang, Hayate, Jann Lee, Brad, Eliot, Bayman and Hitomi...
...and yet, you're still complaining. Wow...
I don't care if it is his slowest option, it should of never happened.
So you want Jann Lee to be able to cancel into DS and use his slowest attack out of it in less than 30 frames? Even though he has two other attacks out of it that are much faster, and one that would've connected in this situation? So every attack Jann Lee has out of DS should connect in 30 frames or less? Why?
I have been playing that. Shame, if only you guys knew how many guaranteed setups Sarah has that got stuffed in that DoA5 stream due to stupid mechanics.
You do realize that the stream was for DOA5, not VF5FS right? While this version of Sarah is based on the VF5FS variant, it is not a carbon copy of the character. Some things have changed, and that includes guaranteed setups. But trust me when I say that Sarah is a BEAST at the moment and has plenty of guaranteed attack options.
...holds are borderline useless now.
I definitely wouldn't go that far... o_0
Thanks, but the breakdowns on IGN were basically just 800 word summaries. The character sections in the guide are significantly more in-depth. Hopefully I can show off a character section within the next couple of weeks.
