I really like Luna and Prompto here. :)

Okay so the blonde girl is going to still be in the game. I thought she had been completely removed from the story.

Huh? Nooo, Luna (the blonde girl) is probably after Noctis the most important character in the game. It's not sure yet if we will have her at our side in battle...but for the story she is absolutely vital.

Didn't you see this trailer?

This is just my suspicion, but I think she will turn into an antagonist to Noctis.

I don't know how but I somehow completely missed all that stuff or maybe just didn't pay enough attention. Regardless I am happy to see that she is in the game.
And the idea of her being an antagonist would be cool. I can't get enough of female antagonists.

Also wow that city is getting seriously messed up in that last picture.

"Happy New Year!

We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower.

I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft.

We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.

The whole FFXV team appreciates all of the support from each and everyone one of you this past year.
I cannot tell you how much it means to all of us.

We’d like to celebrate a wonderful New Year and as we approach the release of FFXV, I’d like to enjoy that moment with you all.

Director of FFXV Hajime Tabata"

Finally. They seriously have to stop announcing games years before they come out because its getting ridiculous.

Ya it sucks. That's why I loved what bethesda did with Fallout 4. They made the big announcement and I was like "Oh we probably wont see the release for 2 more years." Then bam they announced it was coming out in a few months. More games need to do that. I feel like the hype gets too much when you announce something years ahead and it just dies out and gets buried by everything else over time.

New infos from Tabata about the FFXV game world and how story progression will work within it:

“As you travel through each region, you’ll see different kinds of enemies and will take different paths that make you do unique things in each one of them,” Tabata said of travelling between regions, “As you move through each region, the options for character growth and the different skills will start branching out as well.”

Tabata hinted that as progression through the game moves along, each new region opens up these new options for players. While not a new concept in and of itself, the open-world nature of Final Fantasy XV lends itself to some interesting options for progression in both narrative and gameplay.

“Each region will move the journey forward,” Tabata stated, “How the story is handled, it’s not 100 percent pure open-world, but it’s also not a pull along the rails kind of story.”

While Tabata wouldn’t commit to an either/or approach to the gameplay, he did comment that the game has consciously taken on both approaches in regards to moving things along, stating,

"It’s very much a hybrid of those two styles, which I think is the best of both of them."

Tabata also explained that players have another option for travel with even more choice when traversing the regions, saying “There are also journeys by train, and we think people will be very excited about them.”

Yes, I am excited by the trains! :D We did already see this in an earlier trailer:

And then there was this still alpha phase exploration of a huge terminal station inhabited by stray cats:

I'm just so excited for this game to come out. I'm not entirely sure on how certain things will work but I'm excited regardless.

Me too... >__< It's my most anticipated game for...like ever. I have the feeling it will either absolutely blow us away...or it will be a huge disappointment. It's just so ambitious and huge. It might potentially elevate JRPGs to a whole new level. *sigh*

i dont really see it elevating anything. its a really good looking open world-ish RPG, so aside from the massive budget i dont see what later games would try to imitate that they haven't already been trying to do.

No one has mentioned this? this article's been around since September.

-------------------------------------------------------

- Airship as DLC is the more likely outcome at this point. Potential Gilgamesh DLC could contain a scenario. Tabata wants to prepare things for users who want to play even more of XV even after clearing the game. Gilgamesh is a good idea for that, according to him.

-------------------------------------------------------

Yes Tabata, you should add one of the most powerful FF characters into the game. You made the right choice. Don't care if it's coliseum related, summon related, make it happen. Please do not make him similar to his XIII counterpart and you must make the post-game related things hard, you have to. Make it difficult because Gilgamesh is key element to this. In fact, why does this need to be even DLC? just throw him in there.

@Tyaren going back to the FFVII thing, play the game if you can aesthetically handle this (some FF games on ps4 manage to plop their little watermarks on screenshots even when you use the share button  at least it's small and very croppable)

Not gonna lie...that doesn't look very appetizing at all. D:

I'm not that big of a graphics fanatic as you all seem to think. XD (I do get that feeling.) I for example greatly enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles (played it for roughly 150 hours) and I loved it's awe-inspiring world even in 480p resolution, cancer inducing aliasing, low resolution textures and polygon models from the Middle Ages.

Speaking of Xenoblade Chronicles, I wished FFXV would handle it's world and story progression similarly, now that we know it won't be a100% open world.

OMG, finally a confirmation!!!

Question asked in the official FFXV forum:

Q: HOW MUCH OF THE BIG CITIES LIKE ALTISSIA/INSOMNIA WILL WE BE ABLE TO EXPLORE?

A: I can tell everyone a little about Altissia at this time.

Altissia has many and varied locations, such as multiple cafes, ship-bourne market places and parks etc. The city is of a considerable scale, to the extent that even the developers sometimes get lost there!

The player is free to take a leisurely walk around the complex maze of streets, or ride the gondola to see the sights and there is also added enjoyment to be had looking for restaurants to visit!
You are bound to encounter some unique characters when exploring the city streets.

So we have created lots of different things to enjoy in Altissia and hope everyone is looking forward to visiting!

You can't really blame the devs that were lost after seeing how big the city is lol

this is starting to sound more Yakuza than Final Fantasy. why the fuck would i care about restaurants in a video game? maybe they could give me some dam clothing shops but no wait no clothing changes allowed so fuck that idea here's your virtual fucking food, enjoy.
