Capcom's designers clearly asked themselves how to make the characters more appealing. You can never go wrong with that. Who doesn't want attractive characters? As long as it is not too attractive, lol, to maybe scare off straight male gamers with a too pretty Ryu or Ken.

Since "equality" is all anyone ever talks of, then males buff upper body being fully exposed being okay shouldn't be any different than a females torso being exposed. Chiseled abs, round delts, wide shoulders, large pecs, biceps and triceps are the equivalent of large breasts.

Both are secondary sexual characteristics that have nothing to do with actually making a baby.

So you can't say boobs = penis

The only equivalent of a penis on the female body is the vagina. NO VIDEO GAME FIGHTER SHOWS ANY PART OR IMPRESSION OF THE VAGINA.

But every SJW argument that shows an image like how men would be dressed as women are in games, puts a tightly clad penis as the equivalent of breasts.

Your argument loses a lot of its weight when the male is shirtless while the lady is not. Breasts are generally just as taboo as a penis, well the nipples at least, which was my point. Only making the nipple taboo but the rest of the breast not is kindsastupid.

By the way, remember the sexy preorder outfits that Capcom announced for Street Fighter V?

Funnily enough it was "Hot Ryu", as the costume was dubbed by the internet, (a Gamestop exclusive) that made the biggest splash out of them all. It even trended for a while on Twitter and Tumblr and sparked tons of fanart and fanfiction. Was it just the beard or the fact that Ryu was seen as sexually attractive for the first time by gamers? o__O Here is a very interesting article about the phenomenon:

A while after the success of most of all "Hot Ryu" Capcom eventually announced a "Hot Package Edition" of Street Fighter 5 (only for Japan though) that features all the preorder costumes as well as a completely new cover art:

Its the beard more than anything else lol. Otherwise Ryu always looked kinda boyish in the face but with that he got all Manly.

Its the same deal with Superman. Normally he's generically handsome, almost pretty albeit chiseled with a prominent jaw. Slap a beard on him however and he's the pinnacle of manliness.

That's why the "stubble" like Brad Wong has is generally seen as attractive. Its the middle ground between rugged/manly and boyish pretty.

Which is definitely not right.

For many reasons i explained before, you can have breasts in anime (uncensored) but you can't show genitalia, so that's not as taboo in Japan. games like God of war and Metro Last light show breasts while they do not show genitalia so that's not as taboo.

Women can go on the beach topless but neither men or women can go fully naked. While i agree breasts have are to an extent "taboo" otherwise they wouldn't be covered but to say they are just as taboo as genitalia? nah.


I can name so many mainstream anime sold to the public on shelves which show fully exposed breasts, lol.

Germany is pretty liberal in that regard. Already in 1920 the first nude beaches opened.
A little anecdote: In high school our class attended a theater play in which one of our classmates took part in. At one point all the actors (including our classmate) undressed and jumped around fully naked on the stage and in the auditorium. No one really batted an eye. Art...lol. Later we comfortably talked with our classmate about the play and her role.
Now that I think about it. As far as I know it's also allowed to be fully nude even in a city. Many activists (feminists) do this all the time. Sane people still don't run naked through the streets just because they can.

The news doesn't give any details except "speaking s foreign language", and aftermath of man hunting middle easterners, and I realized aw shit its another situation like Lana Lang where middle easterners think they can treat women like whores.


On the other hand I'm getting more proud of European countries taking precisely no shit from them. Bomb France's capital? France carpet bombs your headquarters.

It might be a little feminist for some people but the tumblr blog "Repair Her Armor" is pretty cool. They take sexualized armour and edit it to be more practical. Obviously with varied results.

This is imho a not so smart example of sexualized design.

I don't like it. Her clothes are all over the place, the rips we're badly implemented, and her hair looks musty.. My mind can't even process the general direction of character design they were going for.

I'll just post these two right now but there is other interesting stuff on their blog. Like I said it wouldn't be for everyone and I don't agree with all their choices like for some then put no effort in to making their edit look nice and instead just put the character in what looks like a sack. They also and some times act as if cleavage ever showing is bad but they do have lots of interesting stuff about female anatomy and how weird in games etc it can be make to look.

I really dislike Tales of Berseria's heroine's design:

This is imho a not so smart example of sexualized design.

The sexualization of her design does nothing for me as i prefer more ample breasts, as far as fiction goes, i don't really find smaller breasts and smaller body frames attractive...HOWEVER what i find a turn on in fantasy is not the same as reality, in reality it's the other way around and i much prefer cute faces more than looking for body shape, i'm not sure about others but what i find sexually appealing in fantasy is not the same as what i find sexually appealing in real life, as weird as that is.

To the design as i'm totally indifferent on this characters sex appeal- I don't like the shoes, i think they look stupid and just downright weird, not a lot to go on the legs since it's just shredded clothing... indifferent, the ripped top held together by strands is pretty blegh, Really really really love the cape and the bandaged hand, best part of this design imo, Other glove isn't so great and just reminds me of the shoes, LOVE the hairstyle and face design though...... In short-

parts i love- Cape/coat, bandaged arm and her hairstyle and face design.
Parts i hate- Shoes, other glove, shirt.
Indifferent parts- what's left of her pants.

Meh.

For what it is, Berserias Protag looks cool as hell.

Fractured Milla from Tales of Xillia 2 had a cool design IMO.

Which is a pretty big difference from her original design from Xillia 1, even Maxwell Milla's design was much more reserved in Xillia 2.

It's very clear she really likes short skirts though either way xD must that "tactical advantage", I personally prefer Fractured Milla's design.

Berseria's Protag is some sort of Pirate/vampire or something iirc, she's more like an anti hero maybe it wouldn't be the first time where the playable protag isn't a hero but isn't a villain either.
