Can DOA finally be taken seriously?

As was stated earlier. People shit on other peoples games all the time, especially when stream monsters are involved. Don't stoop down to their level.
*sigh* nvm.

No, he's definitely not. I mean I don't want to speak for him, but I feel him and I are on the same side on this. We just mean that the game needs to be promoted well, people need to talk about it, the community needs to carry it and be mature, WE need to act like we want the game to be taken, WE need to be the community that people WANT to be a part of. As a community we need to be accepting, inviting, comfortable, and classy. DoA5, as it stands so far, has the elements of a serious fighter. ...now we all need to prove it is.
Well, in any case, at least we're all on the same page there. I was loving what Ryan Hart was saying about the game and that he would hope a community would exist for this game, that he'd contribute if possible to get this scene going.

There is nothing to defend. Stream monsters will shit on anything and everything just to get people to react. Do us all a favor and TURN OFF THE STREAM CHAT!
You dont even have to turn it off. Just simply put it on Ignore....

Stream chat can be fun, though, once you understand that 99% of it is people trolling for the lulz! Plus, the chat is a good way to fill up any random downtime between streamed matches.

I think it would be ideal that the DOA community be good reps for our fighting game of choice at all times but I don't think it's a reality that we can get everyone to be in uniform behavior across the board, especially in the FGC and even more so when it comes to streams (chat). That being said, no one cares what people say in the stream. There's all sorts of crap, trash-talking, and offensive language going on in there, I'm not sure anyone that's reasonable (which is essentially everyone not participating in chat) judges communities and games based on what players spout in stream chat, good or bad. No one gives stream monsters that much cred. At least, they absolutely shouldn't be.

Yeah, anyone who knows what's up doesn't take the stream chat seriously AT ALL. Plus, you'll notice from time to time, most of the streamers, commentators, staffers, etc. purposely TROLL the stream themselves! Aris is probably THE funniest guy when it comes to trolling the stream! The clip with him and KayoPolice at EVO2k11 remains comedy GOLD to this day!

I think stream chat is hilarious, I mean, they were literally explaining to me what sidestepping meant.

If other communities are trash talking you guys should simply ignore their attacks and have fun with the game.

Let the negativity be unheard and enjoy the game.

Exactly. You know, let them hear us having fun over heeeere. They'll come eventually.

Not exactly come to the community but surely be more respectful.

True, but maybe I'm a bit biased, for me, I just started talking about the game a lot, and quite a few people I know who used to "not respect DOA," because of the game "paying too much attention to TnA," and "not having enough FG fundamentals," are at least giving the game a long solid look. Considering the game has more realistic characters now, it seems pretty easy to recruit people to me.

Yeah but there is 4 games before it that will keep the reputation of TnA for some people. People will respect if they are ignored since their immaturity in the end does not deserves to be heard. They will treat with respect or either not bother to talk at all which sounds just fine for me.

Fair enough.

At the moment the game looks an awful lot like DOA4, but that is due to how it's being played. Critical Bursts are extremely rare, low countering is eliminating stun way too often and there are very few instances of guaranteed damage outside of air combo's.

As I said this is just how people are playing but if Critical Bursts were slightly easier to attain for more characters and the recovery frames of counters were just a few frames longer it would do a lot for the games competitive credibility. When the game has been released and people are more familiar with the game system we will hopefully see more use of the new mechanics but until then people who play other fighting games will look at the current footage of DOA5 and turn their noses up at it.

I understand the changes they have made to the game and even I don't feel much hype when watching current match footage. Even in the recent tournament Critical Bursts were almost non existent and there were way too many stun resets. Hopefully these issues are simply people not utilising the new game mechanics and not the game itself.

To be fair, my track record of paranoia is many times worse than his.

Blaze'll come around. It may require a couple of convos while watching Queen's Blade, but he'll come around.

I told them to get out of low comboing 2 in 1's. But, no, I like how DOA plays right now except for how short counters are. I like that CB takes more hits because it lowers the damage a bit. I think it'll be ok.
