Retro games have gotten hot lately -- I'm not sure why because I've always loved them... maybe some don't like the current generation and I don't blame them. Regardless, if you are just starting off or you are wanting to get rid of your old school games, you can get all of that done at Gamestop now. I wouldn't recommend that:
1. They don't test any of the older games. How could they really? They would have to have tons of hook ups, systems and controllers. Most stores wouldn't have the room to expand well on their business. Especially when they primarily sell newer games.
2. They sell bootlegs... makes sense though right? The workers (especially teenagers) will not know the difference between a bootleg Lil Sampson and a real one. There have been many complaints of expensive bootleg games being purchased by Gamestop, or not getting what they see in the picture displayed online. This has been well documented by reliable sources such as Pat the NES Punk.
3. Gamestop will not give you shit for credit. Mike Fahey from Kotaku traded in his Symphony of the Night for a measely $13... and that's with power up rewards! A disc alone, not complete can go for almost $40... complete $60-80. They will rob you blind, even with your membership.
If you want to sell your retro titles, hit me up, as I will give a much more reasonable price than this! You shouldn't buy from Gamestop anyway, but if you do make sure you at least don't fall for this trap.
