The Art Style and Graphics Discussion

Caught up a bit on the events. Nothing major atm I would say. The best looking is definitively Anthem, that demo was amazing. AC:Origins looks nice and I'm sure to get it, but I'm actually a bit sad they are going back in time again, I really liked the last ones' setting.

The new Xbox so far doensn't seem worth it, I'll see how great Anthem is before I even start thinking of getting one. Fell off the Xbox wagon after the 360. The only Xbox exclusives I would like is Gears of War and Crackdown, but Sony is really outshining them on games. 500$ is expensive, but not that bad.

Now can we please just see the new Spidey game please! :p and Bloodborne 2.

Okay well I woke up and watched Bethesda's conference... Happy I didn't stay up for that. Nothing of interest again.I think next is Ubisofts at 6pm or something? I can feel the coming cringe already.

And I'm not surprised its coming to ps4 since isn't it Japanese so if they want sales it needs to be on os4 since the Xbox does bad in Japan.
Ubisoft is at 9pm and Sony is at 2am...

New Assassin Creed looks amazing, visually and gameplay wise I think this is the most hyped I've been for AC since Brotherhood 7 years ago...

Oh yeah lol its the PC gaming show that's at 6pm... I think I'll be skipping that personally.

And yeah for the past while my minds gone blank on what the AC franchise has even been doing with its one game every year thing but this actually looks good.

Just read that Anthem isn't an exclusive for Xbox, RIP Xbox x purchase potentiality.

The Xbox show seemed to confuse a lot of people regarding exclusivity. Microsoft was purposely vague and deceptive with their "console exclusivity" and "launch exclusivity" tags before almost each game, because Sony is running away with the actually exclusive games since the start of this gen. The fact is that nearly all of the really big games shown in the Xbox show are of course also coming to PS4. Like Metro, Assassins Creed Origins, Anthem, Code Vein etc.
Forza 7, Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 were however real exclusives to Xbox and PC.

I didn't know at all, I thought it was only xbox exclusive, but now that I know it's multi console I'll likely get it, which reminds me I hope Nier releases more character dlc

There is no reason to ever make a Japanese game, even more so if it is stylistically very Japanese, exclusive to the Xbone, for the simple reason that the Xbone is literally dead in Japan. On top of that Europe (especially France and Germany), which is most in love with Japanese style games, manga and anime after Japan, is also firmly in Sony's hand. PS4s sold three times as much there than Xbones.

Edit:
I wasn't the only one who noticed, like a hawk, that there also was a Witcher 3 cover in the background, when they mentioned several old games will receive a 4K patch on Xbone X. PS4 Pro owners felt left out, because CD Project Red told us they weren't going to do a Pro patch to rather focus on Cyberpunk, so there was some commotion in other forums, like Neogaf. A GAFer close to the CD Projekt Red developers was able to tell us, that they are also working on a PS4 Pro patch. Phew! U__U

I'm going to delay my new playthrough a bit now. ;)

Oh by the way the reason Dragon Ball z fighter looks like Guilty Gear is apparently because Arcsystem the people who made Guilty Gear Xrd are working on it which I think is interesting. Still may not get it tho, unless Gohan or Videl or Supreme Kai are shown...oh and Krillin, Majin Buu that cute Buu who was like "Hello girl you think Buu sexy??" is already in the game

Regarding the Xbone exclusivity, here is a full list of the games, that are actually exclusive to the system, I bolded the big games:

Forza 7
State Of Decay 2
Sea Of thieves
Crackdown 3

Ori 2
Cuphead
Crimson Skies (BC)

Here's by the way the first gameplay of the DB fighter by Arc System Works:

I think Guilty Gear looked much better in that graphics style/graphic engine. Though it is probably still the best looking DB game yet.

So after watching the ms press conference i've come away extremely unimpressed. the thing with xbone x is that MS doesn't have the studios to completely push its hardware above and beyond like sony does. Their conference pretty much cemented that with its focus on multiplatform games and many of its "exclusives" being visually unimpressive indie games from a technical standpoint with 4k support slapped on. Nothing they showed other than Anthem which in classic EA fashion will most likely be downgraded in the final release looked anything special . Horizon, Last of us 2, God of war, Spider-man, Uncharted Lost Legacy all still look better on the less powerful PS4 pro due to sony actually having dedicated first party studios who are technical geniuses that take advantage of the hardware.

Yep, this post pretty much nails it. That is what I thought as well. It felt as if they tried to hide their still severe lack of first party exclusives behind their dumb and deceptive "something something exclusive" tags and behind pretty graphics of only Xbox One X versions of their games. If I was a standard Xbone user, I'd feel completely left behind. Sony did imo a much better job pushing the Pro without shitting on the standard PS4.

For all these reasons I am also a lot more excited to see what Sony will be presenting us tomorrow. :)

Yeah like what's the point of having this most powerful console if there's no games to showcase that with? All these people were tweeting about how lit life is strange prequel was and I'm just like what is there to like about it?? It looks half finished and doesn't show any progression

Absolutely lol with the "launch exclusive" crap! XD I was like what the hell does that even mean?! Apparently it pretty much means nothing since the only interesting games they showed are all on PS4 too.

And yeah agreed with the other point too, it doesn't matter how powerful it is if not only will it downgraded but you've also got nothing of interest on it? Not to mention that its true, the games on the ps4/ps4 pro look just as good if not better because the teams behind them know how to take advantage of it.

Anyway lol the Xbone X still looks great and I was more hyped at their opening montage of the new console than EA's entire conference so they definitely have that.

Here's the first gameplay of Dissidia on PS4:

Looks good. :) Though the statements of Kishimoto just acknowledging a US version makes me a bit wary as a European. :/

Plus there's the whole thing that first party Xbox games are also on PC making the Xbox in general completely useless.

Plus, the PC versions will look and play better depending on hardware anyway.

PS4 has a lot of visually stunning games without needing terrawhatevers that are 100% exclusive to that console. It's honestly amazing how in the past 4 years I've pulled a complete 180 on Xbox

30 minutes gameplay presentation of AC Origins by a German presenter:

Looks really nice. I hope it will quench my thirst for The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn type open world RPGs.

We already had bloodborne 2.
It was just called dark souls 3 for some odd reason.

A little reminder, the next press conference will be Ubisoft's in about half an hour:

We'll very likely see more AC Origins as well as Far Cry 5.

Then I want Dark Souls 4 ;-) Maybe they'll call it Bloodborne 2....

Far Cry 5 actually looks interesting. I haven't been one for any of the others, but this new setting is very particular.
