I'm thinking about purchasing the SCV guide but many members here have stated the several patches have changed the game a lot. Is the guide still useful¿

Not really several patches, more like 1 big one. And nah, I'm pretty sure the guide was for pre-patch. I'd just check 8 way run for all info anyways, they have pretty much everything you need.

I have it and it's nice, but yeah, a lot changed after the patch. Some information is still good, some not so much.

If you're new to the game, the guide is still a handy piece of work.
But if you intend play professionally or level up your game then skip the guide and check out 8WR, DrakeAldan has been posting great articles recently

I've only casually played SC in the past and I'm thinking of going online with SC5 but too cheap to buy the guide, what's a good girl character to start with? Right now I'm liking Pyrrha but I'm garbage as ass. Can't seem to find a reliable, recent tier list

Same here. I can't play SCV for shit, and can't find a tier list anywhere. Not even on 8WAYRUN. I don't want to see it to pick a high tier character, I just want to see how the characters rank up.

SCV is pretty balanced, aside from maybe Viola being insane, and zwei and raph being pretty bad. Just pick whomever you want.

Pyrrha is a very good character synce, just keep practicing.

Depends on which character you like the look of, as well as your preference fast-slow or close-far range play.

They say Pyrrha is good for beginners, I think Natsu and Leixia are also very good because of their fast close-range game.
Pyrrah Omega and Tira are slightly slower but more powerful, watch out for Tira's mood swings
Ivy's strength is her mid-long range, CS is insanely difficult to do but a very important tool
Hilde relies on her charge attack combos, not everyone's cup of tea
Viola is Viola, very weak but her ball combos are frustrating as hell for players to deal with

This is just my own opinion, everyone plays differently

I've seen plenty of tierlists on 8WR but they don't count for squat

Drake recommended starting with Mitsu or Pyrrah to learn the basics of the game, then choosing a main afterwards.
