I'm getting a console just for this game, should I get a 360 or a PS3?

You'll have the option to fuck around online for free if you want.

PS3 supports more sticks, pads, etc. . . without the need of a converter.

Game should run the same on both consoles.

Pepsi or Coke?

Love all of the opinions stated as fact in here. You really can't mention a choice between consoles anywhere on the internet without the inner fanboy peeking out, lol.

Objectively, PS3 is the lead platform, but both consoles will be locked to 60fps and should look on par. If you don't have any desire for online play now, it may be beneficial to future proof yourself by buying the console that more of your friends have anyway. Sticks make controllers a non-issue.

Having played both versions, they look pretty much identical and run smooth as hell. I had issues with input on the PS3 version and dropped a lot of things I never would have otherwise, but I'm not a fan of the PS3 controller for fighters due to the separated d-pad buttons. More of the veteran players will be on Xbox, but a lot of us are buying both consoles just in case. Really, find out what your friends have and buy the one they have as a majority.
Exactly this, all of this to a "T."

And I'd suspect that the PS3 dropping frames is due to the memory constraints of the system. It's usually not very noticeable but it was feeling rather present in the Gamescom PS3 build because of the input lag.

I'll give you a simple question and answer. Which platform was the lead platform, will have both a physical/digital release day one, will still have games coming out for at least two years after, and while at it, best physical and digital HD features, has no region lock limititations for you to enjoy, etc? If you guessed PS3, then you're on to something.

@Hyper Sonic: Really dude?

Lead platform? PS3. Sure. Doesn't mean much.
Physical/Digital release? PS3, but you're only buying it one way. Choice is nice, but not a deciding factor.
Still have games coming out for two years after? Made up 'facts' are fun and it's highly likely the same will be true of Xbox 360, given current development cycles.
Best physical and HD features? Opinions. Xbox originally came with HDMI cables, which would give it the edge in most situations, but hey, the features are precisely the same, right down to 3D support and 1080p, ports, et al.
No region lock? There are region locks on PS3 content, just not physical discs. But hey, you're counting the digital release of DoA5 as a plus for PS3, so I'll twist that here. Also, not all 360 games are region locked, either.

That was fun.

In the end, if you have no plans whatsoever to play or purchase anything else for your console aside from DOA5, simply go with the system that's going to put the smallest dent in your pocket after all is said and done. System, arcade sticks, etc. While there may be a few minor differences, unless TN completely screws up, I seriously doubt any will set one system apart from the other. I'm a PS3 player and while the game was developed on the PS3, I won't blindly recommend it. If you're not afraid of refurbished hardware, places like Gamestop sell refurbished systems. I've seen refurbished 360s for $119 while PS3s still run for $199. Brand new 360 is $199, while a PS3 is $249.

You might as well get a slim PS3 now before those new shitty ones take their spot.

360 is cheaper, xbl is the superior online service, and way less people on wireless (thus no idiots ruining an online with with packet loss).

360 seems like the easy choice.

He doesn't care about online, besides with XBL costs 360 is the more expensive option 100% of the time. That has changed considerably since wireless became standard on 360 as well. Also PS3 has universal USB support for arcade sticks and fightpads, you're not limited adaptors/propietary controllers and sticks that cost a lot more.

I completely glossed over the fact that he didn't care about online, my bad. However if I walked into walmart right now and got a 360, and then bought live, that would still be cheaper than a ps3.

Gotta the name right. Unfortunately that's all you got.

Lead platform. PS3. You'll see next week.

About physical / digital, every Xbot out here wanna talk about Blu-ray this and that, yet when comes time to deliver on the digital download experience, PS3 delivers in both games and visual media. Gotta problem wit that? Then do what Hayashi stated and "If you want the downloadable version earlier, tell Microsoft."
Speaking of which....

Games. Someone (you) hasn't been paying attention to E3 2012 (North America). Gamescom 2012 (Europe) and Tokyo Game Show 2012 (Japan/Asia) (going on right now by the way) required 'something' which Microsoft ain't got shit of and obviously decided then not to attend. That would be games.

That's right. Best physical and digital features. Which PS3 got locked down. Meaning 360 doesn't do the best HD experience, Blu-ray (physical) and if you wanna an even close experience, then go to your local pawn shop and look for that 2008 retired bootleg ass HD-DVD player add on.

Digital. Netflix. Hulu. Amazon. Better on PS3. Look it up or try yourself.

Xbox 360 DID NOT come originally with HDMI cables (HDMI 1.2 by the way which means no Dolby TrueHD and/or DTS-HD Master Audio for you) until late April 2007 with the Xbox 360 Elite. This is the very same platform that stated back in 2006 that 1080p, BD, and HDMI weren't needed.

Xbox 360 once again DOES NOT do native 1080p (only upscales) and doesn't do native 3D. "1080p" came to the 360 via the Fall Dashboard update in 2006 and the first advertised game to do this was UbiSoft's Splinter Cell Double Agent which ended up running in 1080i anyways.

The only region locked game EVER on PS3 is the recently released Persona 4 The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena.

Making a fool outta yourself shouldn't be fun. Should have paid attention for the last six years while at it.

$200 for Xbox with no HDD, and $50 for 1 year of Xbox live vs $250 for a PS3 with 160GB HDD and $0 forever.

The only problem I have with your posts, subtle jabs aside, is that nearly everything you mentioned was opinion. I prefer the experiences, games, apps, whatever, on the 360. That and one major thing: I've played both the PS3 and 360 builds (and much more recent than the Alpha, too) and visually, to the eye, there is no difference. I also had input issues on the PS3. I was having fun with you, but if you're going to continue to just post opinions as facts, be my guest. That's what the ignore function is for.

You may not want me to not see your posts in the future, though. Read around the site. I'm not going to reach through your monitor and throttle you or some crazy shit, but it may be beneficial to see the things I'm posting and be able to respond.

P.S. I have both consoles and gave an even-handed initial opinion here. Everyone else started bringing in personal opinions and presented them the same way fanboys always do and it's more than a little annoying. You only have a PSN ID in your profile and listed things off like PS3 is a gift from your deity of choice...how do you think that comes off? Tone is important, even in text.

*fanboy rant*
Just so you know, basically every developer uses the PS3 as the lead platform these days because it's easier to port from the PS3 to the X360 than the other way around. So that doesn't mean anything. As for the rest of your stuff...
