Floor scraping?

So I can't figure out why some characters in doa6 can scrape you off the floor to keep strings going. Is there a certain game mechanic or rule that governs this? Is it character specific? I feel like the answer is probably in one of the million different loading screen tips, but I can never find it.

What do you mean scrape? Can you give a character example?

Marie Rose and her cartwheel kick from back facing, most of Ryu's moves feel like they pick you up from being down, same for brad Wong. Are they all just mini bounces? It is it like crit stun and you can mess it up by repeating moves? Also thanks for listening

If you mean Marie's H+K from back facing, yeah those are just mini bounces essentially, they're basically like mini ground slams you can use for combo extensions basically

It's like Kasumi's 66K~K from certain juggles launches, it's basically like an alternative way to pursue combos, mainly for stuff like wall carry and if you don't want to immediately go for bound enders and want to safe it for later on in the juggle after certain conditions

So it's character+move+hit status(ie stun, counter hit) specific? I guess I need to be learning more characters then so I have a better idea of what opponents are able to do. Thanks SovereignKnight, you've been more than helpful with this.

Yeah, some characters have it but also don't feel surprised if certain ones don't, I think if anythings it's just an alternate way to make certain moves otherwise useful.
