Reviews and previews of DOA 5

Every other FG I can think of that has had street date broken/pirates got to it, they have not had their online gated by the street release date, it either works or it doesn't.

No, and that's not how you unlock Alpha anyway.

Wow. I am so glad to hear that.

Online servers probably aren't even up yet, and won't be until the 25th.

If they intend for reviewers to test the online portion, it's a likely chance the servers are up.

Yeah, I don't believe they have to open any "servers" for the game. There are very few people out there who own the game though, so you might not find anyone.

6/10 from Edge. Not a great start. It is edge though, they gave TTT2 a 7.
Edit:I retract my previous statement saying that I like how Edge rates games... they gave SFxT a 9...
..THEY GAVE SFxT a 9 !

I agree that Tekken deserves a higher score because of the amount of content and more "competitively viable" fighting mechanics...but I truly believe that IF Team Ninja had the time, talent and resources that Bamco have..DoA would surpass Tekken.

If true, a 6 out of 10 is a great score from Edge. Many genuinely great games have scored a six in the past (a few absolute failures too, but they're in the minority) - Saints Row 2, Binary Domain, etc - while what I considered to be fairly mediocre games have had rave reviews.

I wish I could remember more examples of the Edge 6, but it seems to be the sweet spot for some pretty excellent games. They can keep their 9/10 Diablo 3 / SF X Tekken's and 10/10 Grand Theft Auto 4's, I'll go for the genuinely good games that they consistently score lower than average.

Considering 5 is their average and they completely blow at fighting games non Street Fighter.

Having only two strike buttons, alone, is a very big reason why this game will never be as “competitive” as the fighter community would probably want.
