NINJA Gaiden 4 Discussion & Release

Neutral at the moment in terms of costume design ahaha, but I may enjoy it once the game is in the palm of my hands in 4 days.

Personally the biggest win for me is seeing Ayane older. Ayane was 18 in DOA6 and 15 in NG2. We've reached a point where the characters finally age to be perfectly presentable to the audience without looking weird sometimes that clashes with their initial design, and what I mean by that is that TN had a habit of making characters look like they are in their 20s or 30s, but get slapped age 18 on it (exception of Marie Rose and Honoka obviously). I know it's a Japan thing, but was hoping they could more often escape from that, and they finally did lololol.

Ayane being 25 is like perfect in my opinion as a design base and the look.
Is it confirmed Ayane is 25 in this game with this game taking place 7 years after DOA6? I've seen some people say that, but I haven't seen confirmation yet. I hope it's true because DOA is in need of a time skip and it will be refreshing to see the rest of the cast with a new look. Lovin' Ayane's new design.

japanese peep were screaming when the girl got close up punch in DOA6, you think they will be happy with old girl..no way

Characters in their 20s and 30s is not old though..... it's a legitimate fact. Your mid 20s and early 30s is where characters (and sometimes people in real life) are considered to be in their prime.

Ayane being in the mid 20s (or just 20s in general) means we'll likely have peak prime Ayane. That's a blessing in my opinion. These characters cannot be 18 forever.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I see where HHH is coming from. Some gooners just have ridiculous standards.

Heck it's not even some gooner ideology for standards. It's just common logic at this point to make these characters grow. DOA already had tons of issues presenting to an audience without some stigma attached. Titty fighter, gooner fighter, those are whatever... but the minimum 18 age thing or adding characters with kid like designs on constant is a bit disrespectful for like years now, and something that DOA should try it's best to get away from by no longer capping themselves at a lower age or characters with kid like features, and start designing characters at age that looks the part, regardless of Japan gaming studios having some fanatics favoring below the cap.

Even Japan isn't perfect (least their game studios that is), and sometimes people do have to call it out if stuff like that gets bloated over time lol. Stuck on age 18 is no different. TN/KT could do whatever they want to their games, but having these characters get older and match their age with their designs is like one of the best things they've done in years. Obviously they can make characters be 18 and look like they are in their 20s, but that's just coping on major escapism to dodge the problem.

If it's because of the gooners, then they need to seek mental help because they are gooning to low level nonsense ahaha.

So far, an 83. There is still plenty of time for it to go up to 85 or 86, but more than likely more boneheads like PC Gamer will come out of the woodwork to make sure it gets a 79. I hate it when great games get that score. Though Metacritic is an internally biased operation and a scam.

The more I see of Ninja Gaiden 4, the more I am tempted to play it (even though it's not really my kind of game). I like the aesthetic design they've gone with and I think Yakumo could be a really neat addition to Team Ninja's pantheon of characters.

If only I had more time to sit down and play video games lol

As petty as it is, I had to stop watching this as soon as I first heard him mispronounce Gaiden

You're not being petty at all.

I'm enjoying NG4 so far. The gameplay is crisp AF, and there are obvious improvements over the originals. Wall options (especially pleased with the increased window of the wall run) and delay on moves in air is nice. I can stay in the air much longer and it feels great.

I actually really like some of these photo frames in the photo mode too. Photos sizes are pretty big, so I'm going to have to find a place to host these ones. Still takes amazing photographs with 1080p resolution IMO.

coming from the recent NG 2 Black (not the OG), the AI in this looks pale in comparison. They all waiting for their turn to get slaughtered

Wait til you try MN mode. Don't let early gameplay chapters fool you or Hero mode.

(With the exception of NG3 since I never touched MN mode on that game). I've cleared the others on the hardest difficulty, and NG4 is by far quite possibly the most annoying to deal with for both good and rough reasons (currently on Chapter 8 Master Ninja mode). Some say it might even be harder than OG NG2.

Im enjoying it so far however some things are kind of clunky. Charging UT’s seems kind of busted. Half the time the charge doesnt register and I just absorb all the essence. That is pretty annoying.

I think the worst thing about NG4 is the controller optimization. Like activating berserker mode with both thumb sticks when you optimize the item wheel to be on a thumb stick since it doesn’t let you prioritize the d pad.
