Let's hope this game doesn't get too explicit

Hello Team Ninja! I love DoA5, but I believe that you guys stated you wanted to focus on the game as a fighting game more, with the fanservice content to a minimum.

I'm not here to criticize you, but I'm here to say that if you fall too much into the foot steps of the previous titles, more people are gonna be inclined not to look into this game. I feel like right now it is especially a crucial time to not release any more DLC/costumes that have explicit content....

We're trying to grow a community but it's kinda hard if most new fans or other people are not willing to get into it because they ONLY think sex is the selling point for this game.

I don't think like those guys, and as a matter of fact, personally I wouldn't mind it. But people do mind it.

Think about it, if we were playing at a public tournament with all ages allowed, would a costume like that that one posted above be appropriate?

Please hear me out; I think DoA5 is fine the way it is right now, I would prefer to modify this costume that you are releasing for Christie and make it less explicit. (Seriously, how does one fight shirtless like that?) At least give her a bra or something like her default costume, so it looks more believable.

But I ask that you just don't push this type of agenda any further. I like it, it's nice, but at the end of the day, we sometimes just wanna play some games!

Speaks for itself really. DOA isn't the only game out there that does this. I don't see what the big deal is really. IVY was pretty much the poster girl for SC5 I mean they even had her big ass breasts as a marketing selling point.

SC is way more sexualised than DOA. But either way who cares. We are grown men and women. if you wanna bring young people into it. There's more sexual hints in media and television/ads, than in games, so there's no harm done. Just let it be. Enjoy the game for what it is. a fighting game.

They did tone it down in SC5 though, in SC4 it was nuts and SC4 was 12 rated as well.

Honestly, its been burned into DOA already. Same way Mortal Kombat will always be viewed as a brutally violent game. And to change it kind of loses its charm.

DOA has a good casual appeal thanks to the great graphics and its easy at the surface. The problem DOA has is with its reputation of being a terrible fighter due to DOA4. Many competitive players called it a joke and any casual fans who wanted to get more serious just saw that it was supposedly a joke and turned away from it not wanting to spend time on a "joke".

Also the Bikini is much more revealing then that lol.

Meh, who cares? Some people need to get passed certain costumes. Christie's DLC costume was one of her's in DOA4...so not exactly new and explicit.

Actually i think someone on 8wayrun found a way to do nudes in SCV and the customization in that game makes it far more explicit than any other well knows fighting game.

You can do nudes on any game providing you can mod it and raccoon penises don't count as sexual content.

I don't think that's true.

In any case I think DOA heads the pack in this area since it focuses on it, Soul Calibur doesn't focus on it, and when it does its as a joke, since Ivy had a poster so did Voldo. (Not to mention these posters were Japanese, different culture)

Tekken (and SC to an extent) can pull the equality card saying its men have got the same treatment but still sexual content is not its focus whereas DOA it is with oversensitive jiggling, see through tops, voyeuristic lose scenes etc.

Other games do it subtly and there's nothing subtle about DOA. (Not saying that's a bad thing though)

I like my Mature games to remain Mature. though i do wish i could tone down the bounciness sometimes. That age slider was useful for that.

This is all true. Also DOA has a bed reputation for this sort of thing now and thus will get judged harsher. Even if other fighting games have sexual content that does not make it right for DOA.

Amen, brudda. I kinda wish the age slider was back, too.

BTW, first poster, what's wrong with the Christie DLC? It's hardly the worst offender in fighting game history *cough*MK9Mileena*cough*.

I'm 32. I feel like I'm hanging out with grandma and grandpa. We are all adults, lets not pretend this is not what sells and what a lot of people want. DOA is one of the few games that uses a lot of sex appeal that doesn't totally suck. That why it is still around and not some lollipop chainsaw lameness. Sex is a part of life, people like it. If you can make a game utilizing sex and not make it totally fail, more power to you.

The director of the new fighting game Dead Or Alive 5, Yohei Shimbori, said in a recent interview that after a demo of the title was released, fans wrote in to complain that the female characters' breasts weren't large enough.

For real?? *facepalm* :lame:

For an M rated game, this sure has a lot of censored words. Can't use WTF or damn :wtf:

Come on guys, we all know sex sells, but must we need excessive amounts? At the end of the day, sometimes we just wanna play a fighting game.

I think DoA5 was fine exactly on release date, but now they're slowly going back to the lame over the top sex gimmicks. Dude seriously, it's cool that you enjoy that stuff, but for the community as a whole, we have to think on a broader scale.

I dunno man, I think this is getting pretty stupid. I'd be embarrassed to play a game that was constantly provocative. Come on, of course we are old and mature, but we should also be mature enough to break beyond this mold.
