New Doa 5 Characters

Bah, you people aren't thinking outside the box regarding a boxer character.

TN has set a lot of fighting game standards as far as what can work on DOA's engine, just because a character is "limited" to just using their fists does not mean they couldn't attack, counter, and grab in some creative ways.

And whose to say they have to be a "regulation boxer"? They could be a former pro turned street fighter as cliched as that may sound, hell I'd scratch a female type for this guy:

Zack and Lisa's fighting styles are loosely based but a boxer can't get the same treatment?! SMH

I can't see what you can do with the boxer's f+k moves other than making them ducks and weaves with the p+k moves being different punches.

A TKD character like Sarah Bryant on the other hand can have a whole lot of options between highs, mids and lows, the boxer could end up not having many options for lows.

There are lots of fighting styles that could be interesting. People already mentioned Aikido, Capoeira, and Taekwondo...but there are plenty of options...

Taekyun
Lutte
Krav Maga
Judo
Silat
Savate
Greco Roman Wrestling
Lerdrit
Escrima

The list goes on...

I'd go for Savate and mix it with judo, I guess. A bit like SF Abel.

I suppose you're making another Tina with a more refined moveset.

Wing Chun is pretty awesome as a fighting style actually, lost of CQC though with the close up elbow attacks and all them quick punches. Heh, maybe we could finally have a rival for Christie. Anybody ever watch the movie Iron Monkey? Its an old Kung Fu movie with the longest somesault/caltrop throw sequence in history, also the longest boss fight I have ever seen. Also, its awesome! Well the main protagonist is Donny Yen and he uses wing chun in this movie as well as in Yip Man... for reference if you guys need it

This just came to me. Forward (backward) and free plus kick equals super dash / step-in (super stepback). Up (down) and free plus kick equals super side step???

Yeah, pretty much Steve Fox with cartwheels.

Wah/Grape/Rikuto, please tell Hayashi's team to make more use of F+P+K specials like in DOA1. You can add a whole set of new moves that way. I'm not saying that you should make the move sets look like DOA1 where everything was obscure. Just make use of FPK as specials rather than just pointless taunts.

P-P-P-P-P-P-POWER!
Taunts aint pointless. They drive people batshit when spammed and force ill-disciplined players into being aggressive.

You should've seen what I could do with Bingo in DOA2U after a neckswing.

I wouldn't say they are completely useless, Busa's taunt/ninpo glitch is a great way to draw in your opponent. They're semi-useless.

That can be countered though, right? So of all the taunts in the game that would be the flat out absolute worst.

The taunt itself is a counter in DOA3, unless they added something new to him in DOA4, which in that case I don't give two shit about the game.

The strange thing is that I know it was possible to hold the follow-up punch from the taunt in 3.0, but awhile ago I was trying to hold it in 3.1 and it didn't occur. Either way, it's easier to just do a mid hold anyways.
