Previous DOAs I mained Leon, subbed Jan Lee.

Now I main Mila. Jan Lee seems...off, so not sure I can really play him anymore.

Tempted to try to learn Lisa and/or Christie. have no interest in Bayman.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I usually play grapplers and single strike power characters. Yaknow, practical combat. (Hence, Leon and Mila. no tricks. no gimmicks. Just beat the tar out of the opponent.) (think Alex instead of Zangief.) Christie, a striker/poker, has never been my style, but I like the way she looks. I also like high flying and stylistic characters (lisa), just not sure if her playstyle would suit me.

If it helps, in other games I played Astaroth/Kamikirimusi inSC5, Bryan Fury in Tekken, Leon in previous DOAs, Vanessa in VF, Alex/Elena/Guile in Street Fighter (Focused more on melee than his two specials with guile), and in KoF, my most used characters were Vice, Clark, Vanessa, Blue Mary, and Shermie. Arcana Hearts I used the girl with the pile bunker, Guilty Gear, Johnny and I-No, Mortal Kombat, Sheeva and Mileena, Makoto Nanaya in Blazblue, Melty Blood used Nero Chaos. Cerebella in Skullgirls.

I'm asking you guys because

1) I'm REALLY indecisive.
2) I don't want to have any record of me using characters I don't use. Stupid, I know, but its a thing for me. So I wanna just go straight to whoever my new sub would be.

You know, i play all the grapple characters except Bayman, but have a lot of interest playing, i simply cannot get past his slow movement, it just turn me off game and i lose idea what to start with. How Rikuto plays him so good is a mystery to me.

Tina.

I used to main her DOA 4 and into first few weeks of DOA 5. I actually swapped her out for Mila and have been working on pushing her as my main for about a week now. I still love Tina's style and feel she gels well as my (now) sub with Mila.

Otherwise, Eliot. He's a lot of fun and packs a nice punch.

Well based off your style description, you're probably not gunna like Eliot. He's meant to do big damage but he's also meant to parry to keep his opponents from doing anything to him, and you'll end up doing his launching throw for most of his damage.

I'd like to say Hitomi, cause she's a nice strike character that can pummel you into the wall and you think it's over then she's thrashing you right back into it, before you've even been able to hit the ground. Problem is, she's also a bit about whiff punishment. If you're about that check her out.

Tina is a good grappler, but her striking game isn't much. Most of the time you're throwing out the same combos over and over to get that same launch, and same grab you've been doing the whole match. That's how Tina players act in my eyes. Also many of her combos are like mid, mid mid, or low low low, or high high high. Some are key combos too.

I know you're not interested in Bayman, but when I look at him then I look at Bryan Fury, I see a resemblance in styles. Bayman has his Russian Martial arts but it looks like he's just simply beating the persons ass into the pavement, as does Bryan. I could understand if you disagree with me on that one though. His game does really depend on his grabs or oki/yomi game, and Rikuto seems to know what he's doing no matter what the situation. I'm gunna hate the day that I face him, I'm pretty sure.

Jann Lee is mixups. His gimmick is the dragon gunner. Frankly you don't really need the dragon gunner to get your offense started(but free damage is free damage). I don't see him along the same lines as the characters you described though.

My suggestion above all would be Bayman, but that's all of my insight, I hope you pick the one you'll have the most fun with and win the most with.

For a sub, I've heard good things about alt.com.

For a different character, I'm a Tina fan since DOA1 and she's badass in this one. Her force tech game is probably the best out of all the grapplers and so probably the best in the game, so once you get pressure started you can keep it up all day. She hits like a goddamn truck and her throws put Mila to shame. And catsuit so you can have a sub with your sub.

Her striking game is not top tier but she's not looking for launch combos off the bat; she's looking for a hard knockdown into force tech into a scary wonderland of guard breaks and high-damage throws. People doing the same combos are either a) smart and exploiting 6f+k and its relatives or b) not aware of how diverse her stun game is. She can easily set up unholdable situations in at least four ways (kk, kp, bt k, and 8p) and any of these can be followed by big damage or a force tech setup. At almost any point she has a mid punch and mid kick option that will get her something good. So the odds of someone low holding out of your stuns is somewhat reduced.

Bayman is straight pimpin, I know we miss Leon but don't hate on the guy. Leon really would be kind of redundant in this game. He's like Tina, but better defense and better combo damage. Arguably a worse striking game and obviously not quite up to par with throws, but still has good force techs and a decent throw game. I actually don't think his big scary combo OHs are necessarily all that amazing but his other OHs are nasty and if they get up against the wall it's just time to put the stick down and walk away calmly. Tina's definitely a little quicker and more straightforward; Bayman you have to be able to exploit his parries and evasive moves, pay attention to stance more, etc.

Christie sucks, Lisa sucks except in lag, starting to get into Bass, fuck Jann Lee. Fuck him.

I think you'll love Zack. Very easy to use. His combos aren't hard. And he is a ton of fun. He also can keep an opponent guessing.

I think you'll like Lisa. She's not a grappler in the traditional sense, but she can play a very good single strike game, can get an air throw off any of her FIVE launchers (two of them only need normal hit too), and has an excellent range game. She also has better than average damage to boot.
