Seeing more and more people just trying to stunlock the entire match. You know, same combos over and over that if they land it, trap me in stun where I can't counter out.

So its just either

a) I perfectly counter them the entire time due to how predictable they are. Insanely boring.

B) I slip up and they land a hit on me and just carry me across the stage for most of my health. Insanely boring.

WHy why why why WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND GOOD FIGHTS?!

Because your definition of a good fight is contradictory to what the rest of the world (including myself) believes is a good fight.

You need to stop playing by your own rules and start playing by the game's.

Just out of curiosity, what IS your definition of a "good fight"?

Someone who uses everything available to them within the game to beat me while I use everything available in the game to beat them. If our tools are incredibly powerful and borderline OP, mind games start to develop around the use of these tools via the fear they create. This is what makes high level matches interesting.

What you are essentially doing is limiting yourself from using everything available to you, and getting mad when your opponent does not respect your original code of ethics who nobody else is following or even aware of.

You may have read this before, but it's worth revisiting. Everyone can benefit from it, even years later.

Okay. So we have the exact same definition then. The issue comes from you completely misunderstanding the fact that I don'y get mad at people who don't "respect my original code of ethics". I get bored from repetition, and when I don't get to play. Which are completely valid reasons to be bored when playing a fighter.

Also, I feel that the mind games should come from fear of my opponent's capabilities, not some broken or OP move/character. That is the defining difference between what we see as a good fight.

Also, that link doesn't mean anything to me as I don't play to win. Too boring and too easy to get a win.

Like, I can get a win off people i have no CHANCE of beating in a fight, and vice versa. Hence why I don't really care about winning or losing; it doesn't mean anything.

I think everyone that whines on these forums should stop and learn what it's like playing 2d fighters. It's educational to see what people do with actual 'really strong tools'. Take your pick, O. Sagat in ST, Chun in 3rd Strike or Marvel 2 where only like 6-7 characters are viable.

Edit:
@The Above Post

It seems you completely missed the point. All I read from that was. "I read it, it went from one ear to the other."

You're not getting bored, you're getting pissed because you're not playing.... because you're losing and having to wait for the next match.

Apparently not, as you are clearly not getting the win as much as you want.

I honestly and truly believe you are in denial over your own capabilities, and you're using these excuses as a crutch so you don't have to push yourself any further.

You're free to ignore everything I'm saying, of course. It's the most likely outcome and I already know what your most likely response will be, as its outlined in the link I posted already.

You are playing the game by your own rules, and neither the game nor anyone else is going to respect those rules you've created. Until you start playing by the same rules as everybody else, you're going to keep getting upset.

What is with you and trying to just make up whatever response you wanted? You really need to read and analyze what people are saying, rather than just mindlessly saying "yer just mad cuz you lost".

I don't care if I have to wait, as I'm playing on the comp at the same time i'm on DOA, so im just on here between matches. I only care if I have to wait DURING my match.

As for "not getting the win as much as I want"....yes I am. As I don't care for getting wins, I win plenty lol. I mostly play Ranked as thats the quickest way to get in a match, and it doesn't matter whether I win or lose there, I still immediately search for a new match.

Believe whatever you want, I know my limits and capabilities, but I also know that I enjoy fighting more than winning, which is the opposite of most others, who just want to win at any cost.

The problem is that you're holding the other player up to some arbitrary standard, when in fact, their only responsibility is to try to beat you as quickly as efficiently possible (and the same applies to you as well).
I think everyone that whines on these forums should stop and learn what it's like playing 2d fighters.
What the OP needs to experience is classic, 2D fighter "vortex" where getting knocked down out of a combo simply leads to a 50/50 mixup that puts them back in a combo.

The banner of this website shouldn't say "We are fighters", it should say "WE ARE BULLIES".
Every single topic i go on i see people arguing like animals, being rude and condescending. Can't you just explain your point without being rude about it?
I mean even if you know you're right, i'm sure SilverKhaos didn't open this subject to be shat at like this.
For people who keep wanting one single DOA community that works well, you're doing a foul job at making it work.

Then you have no right to complain, because you want something nobody else does. You cannot hold other people to a standard that you yourself have devised.

I'm going out of my way to explain what his problem is, and I'm telling him the solution. I'm not being condescending about it in the slightest. He might be taking offense to it because the truth goes beyond his comfort zone, but that isn't my fault. I am doing the right thing, regardless of how he decides to respond to it.

Show me where I've been condescending.

If anything, I've been overly generous. I'm not obligated to help anybody.

Also, Raansu's comments don't apply. He's always an ass. He won't find my calling him that condescending either, because he knows he's an ass.

You need to play another game.

No disrespect... You're not going to find what you want. If you're not happy with it, it's not going to change at this point.

Maximizing guaranteed damage is just part of the game... You're always going to find players who follow that principle, especially so the further up you get on the "competitive ladder".

If you still wish to play DOA5, I would suggest that you set up private lobbies, and find a group of friends with shared values. The general playerbase is probably not for you- or rather, you're not going to get the fights you want from them.

If that's not condescending I dont know what is. There are a thousand ways you could've said those things to him. I mean who wouldn't take offense to these things.
And by the way you talking like that gives a platform for people like Raansu to add more crap to it. And if you're not as rude as him you still encourage him and other to join in and bash. Like Drake, who's telling him to "go play another game" seriously?

Why play a game if it only serves to anger you or bore you?

The game is not going to get changed drastically at this point. Many players are going to continue playing the same way, going for the same strings, doing the same combos.

You have to find what's right for you.

That's not condescending.

Let's look at the title of the thread, for example. It says

Okay, i'm getting pissed off now.

That means he is getting angry. If we take his initial post which is entirely composed of complaints, it further supports the case -- he is angry. Obviously something is making him angry. It is not condescending to remind him of the obvious truth of the situation when he is attempting to ignore it. It is, in fact, a service to do this for him.

If you read Sirlin's play to win, which I linked, it explains in great detail how and why people make excuses for their losses and construct a mental prison for themselves made up of lies and excuses. That is EXACTLY what is happening to SilverKhaos right now, regardless of whether or not he accepts it as the truth. I am giving him the key to open that prison. It's not condescending as much as it is liberating. I am showing him the truth. It may not be pretty, but if he wants to open that door he has to accept it.

If he can't accept it, he will need to move on to something else or avoid competitive players entirely. That's also not being condescending, it's just the truth that will serve him best. His standards of how to play the game will not be accepted by anyone, because they will constantly change based on how he is feeling at any given time. They would be impossible to follow.

Also Raansu is going to talk shit regardless of what I say. I've had to reprimand him more than once and I'm sure I'll have to do it again.

If I was truly being condescending I would have said something along the lines of "Fucking Christ Silver, you're hopeless. Just quit the fucking game already. You don't know how the hell to play fighting games and you never will. Here's a link that shows why you're an idiot. Now get lost."

Notice however, I did not say that. I do have to be blunt about the problem however, because the problem is dealing with a delusional personality complex. If I beat around the bush he will continue to make more excuses and feed the delusion. We don't want that.

Looks like a bad image imo.

As for SilverKhaos there isn't much to say. If many people are aiming for the win and you're not, they'll go their way to use whatever moves they need to win even if it's cheap and/or repetitive. You might want to find better players to face against so you'll fear what their characters are capable of.

Also are there any games you feel that isn't what you feel in this game? Particularly which games you like to play but don't care for winning as much while less frustrating?

Rikuto

P-P-P-P-P-P-POWER!
Self justification at its best. Keep telling yourself that. From your posts I've seen, you'll just be adamant about everything. Oh and just because you haven't explicitly said it condescendingly, doesn't mean you didn't imply it.

You can have a jail free card.

I've said what is necessary to help this man become competitive on a competitive website dedicated to competitive play. If he can't adapt to public standards he is going to have greater problems in the future. There is no kinder way of saying what I had to say that wouldn't have been flatly ignored. In fact, it will probably still be ignored, but at least this way he has a chance of understanding the depth of the problem.

As for how you feel about me, what can I tell you?

If you ask me, a whole bunch of you have come out of nowhere recently and attempted to undermine my intentions, put words in my mouth, and accuse me of things I have not done. If anyone is being rude here, I would think it is you.

You have to admit you're good at hiding the viciousness in your comments, Rikuto... You know your replys weren't innocent come on.
As constructive as they were.
And you were nice here, I've seen you be a little bit harsher.
And I'm in awe of how people gang up on someone. Like Stikku. Yes, I'm bringing him up, because he's taking so much shit here.
