It's like watching womens golf, especially at high level. Players always end up hugging the opposite side of the (large) arena, too afraid to move foward. Then when someone finally decides to give up and move forward they do microscopic damage on the obscenely large health bars, then continue moving backwards.

It's pretty damn boring.

You also have a 9-frame jab, 11-frame mid, and more safe moves than any other non-VF character.

Yet every Jann Lee loves to hold back.

I'm just wondering if it's because everything is so unsafe in general or because there are too many defensive options.

Jann Lee is super unsafe (like almost every DOA character). I don't think it's because there are too many defensive options, it's because everything is a guess, on offense AND defense. No matter what you do in this game, unless the opponent is in the air or you land one of the very few guaranteed hits, you're forced to guess.

i also play Mila and a little Lisa, just not in ranked (not much anyways), i dont rush down as hard with them, but i still try to keep pressure

Welcome to the world of actual fights. You rarely want to be making the first move in a fight.

I find stuff like that way more exciting than people just rushing in and mashing combos (then whining that they got countered). Because there's a lot more tension, and each hit counts.

In a series like this where the defense is as solid as the offense, you have to focus on how to get PAST the defense, not just rush in. One of the MANY reasons I prefer DOA to other fighters. Its the closest to an actual fight that you'll come across.

I always rush no matter what. I'm really impatient, it's one of my downfalls.
Agreed. I despise playing with people that do this. As soon as a match starts they'll just move back as much as they can. Then they attack once, run back. Knock me to the floor, run back. It's fucking lame. It's like just fucking fight me already. Stop avoiding me like a little bitch. I'm always the one keeping pressure.

This happens to me a lot, and it gets annoying quickly. It's great to play it safe, but if being knocked down then backed up from over and over again like the most repetitive salt ritual in the world, then that would be enough to make me sigh in disappointment at the fight.

Yeah... you guys should really try JAK-ing off sometime.

You might enjoy it on your alone time online. Hell, it's a healthy alternative to low-budget porn.
