Thread locking

Can you (an admin) unlock the 1.03 thread?
I know this community is very contentious towards one another, but hear me out.

When I come to the site I usually go right to the forum, and check the homepage once in a while. I know this is common for others as well.

The fact that a news item exist for the story, doesn't mean a thread exist for it in my view.
Especially if the news item you're linking to is from a few weeks ago, buried and no one would think to check a 2 week old news item to see if it has an update

I also find that front page news comments are more playful, and less focused then forum threads where ppl attempt to stay on topic ( well, relatively hehe )

i think if you feel that unlocking the conversation thread is not the right option, perhaps make a new news item?

It's pretty bad, looks like discussion in general has taken a huge halt mostly due to the thread locking.

News articles show up as threads when you search the "whats new" icon because news articles are also part of the forums (http://www.freestepdodge.com/forums/news.26/)

Also, if you bothered to look at the front page, it's not buried. It's literally the second article on the page. It's also the second thread in the forums link. The information was already there, your thread was locked because splitting the discussion doesn't help anyone.

new threads should be for new news.

megathreads just keeps discussion insular.

Eh? It's not Raansu's decision at all. He ain't a mod... but he IS a condescending ass, you got that part right. He won't really deny it either.

Basically, threads get locked down for a lot of reasons... most of which should be pretty obvious if you've been around the internet for a while. It's pretty standard procedure to lock redundant threads, and while you may not check the front page for news... it IS kind of the purpose of the front page, so that really isn't doing you any favors.

As this thread itself doesn't have anything to do with DOA 5, and this is the DOA 5 subforum, I'll be locking this as well. No hard feelings, it's just that you've said your piece, I've said my piece, and Raansu acted like the ass that he always is. I think we probably all understand each other well enough, and pretty much the only thing that this thread will be used for now is for someone to randomly come in and take this as an opportunity to start an uprising of whiny nerd-peasants about our iron-fisted moderation methods.

You're free to PM us of course, I just don't care for dealing with issues like this in the open. Then I have to listen to every idiot at once, and anything of actual intelligence being said tends to get lost in the process. You know how it goes.
