Dead or Alive 5 on Playstation 3 Will Blow Fighting Fans Away

It seems like forever since we first got word of Dead or Alive 5 coming to the Playstation 3 back in November of last year. At that time, the word was that the game was in production for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 and news came to us through a large distributor from the UK instead of straight from the horse’s mouths at Koei Tecmo.

Now images are popping up of the game running on the Playstation 3 hardware and we’re obviously happy. We followed up with our friends in the UK to see if anything new had developed and it looks like the game is coming along nicely and has actually been shown to distributors. Now most people tend to think of publishers as distributors, but typically these are just middle-man companies that buy in bulk from pubs and sell to smaller (and sometimes large) retailers who don’t deal directly. What we’re being told is that there has been nothing shown for the Xbox 360 version of the game. In fact, in every meeting where the game was shown to distributors in the UK, it was only running on the PS3 and no specific details were discussed about the release of an Xbox 360 version other than in passing, which leads us to believe we’re not only looking at the first Dead or Alive fighting game on a Playstation home console since DoA 2, but it’s likely a timed exclusive.

The most interesting tidbit of information was how impressive the game is shaping up. According to a buyer for several large UK retailers, the game (shown in video form) is absolutely stunning. We’ll have to wait to judge for ourselves, but needless to say, we’re excited.

Although I love to accept any internet article's word of "I heard from these important big wigs that you don't know of that a DOA5 is coming out on PS3 exclusively."

Meh. Again, don't care until Tecmo announces. But thanks for sharing it.

Regardless of the console specifics (one way or another, I see the game being PS360), I would like to think that DOA5 brings about a significant overhaul to the franchise that will be on a level higher than anything anyone would typically imagine for a DOA game. Because, if nothing else, if DOA5 looks straight HOT FIRE, that could very well be the first step to the DOA franchise getting a little less hate from other FGCs ... which, in turn, would be a very nice step for the fighting community as a whole.

Im with Wah here. I can't take some random sites word because some random UK store owners saw the game in action. Which brings up a couple of questions? Why is the UK getting to have the first look at a game that hasn't been officially announced yet. Plus why is only 1 site making this news worthy and nobody else has anything on a new DOA aside from the 3DS version? And another thing, how do we know this isn't a rumor being created by a UK store company who is looking to just promote themselves by looking as if they are important?

I can tell you from my experience in the publisher/developer side of the industry, that what is being described doesn't happen - if at all. Stuff like this is typically kept in-house. The fact they had a video of it and didn't actually see real gameplay verifies it to me. But that's based off my personal experience. Also, it would make sense to "only see the PS3 version" if it were a video. It may either be the lead platform or the one they're trying to get working the most.

However, based on what Hayashi has stated in a past interview on Gamasutra, I doubt it will be coming on the Xbox 360.

Ok... Where?

I highly doubt this info is true. Fully true really. I'm sure they're making it on the PS3. But it'd be obsurd for Team NINJA to scrap out the 360 fanbase. Though if Hayashi's plans are to make it PS3 only, I'm sure some hate mail could change his mind.
