    Official DC/MD/VA Thread

I gave up on DOA5 pretty quickly to try and focus on other games when it came out, but with Ultimate around the corner I might give it another try, especially since I think I'm at my breaking point for a lot of fighters I have been playing recently.

Online vs. Offline in DOA5: DOA4 All Over Again...

Pretty sure every other fighting game community recognizes this. Why is so hard for the DOA community to come to terms with this as well?

Finally got to play you some Matt, and since I'm horrible with names I already forget who the other guy was that was playing also. I need to sit down with the game some more, which hopefully I'll have more time for now that I've pretty much given up on UMVC3 and possibly SF4 as well. They just...

    Is online completely meaningless?

I wouldn't say the "best" practice, but it can definitely be great practice with good connections and everything. I'm just saying, unless it's a tournament environment, or a money match, or at least when both players know there are some stakes on the line, how can you even tell if the other...

    Is online completely meaningless?

Online is great for practice! But in terms of determining a better player. Yeah, doesn't mean much of anything, a little more if the loser actually admits they lost to a superior player, but other than that, not really.

Melbourne's Top VF playing playing Akira

OMG Akira looks sexy no matter what game he is in. I might have a new character to learn.

    Why is DOA 5 considered non-competitive ?

This is the problem right here. This is ALL opinion. Getting a juggle after a launcher has nothing to do with either player's skill, other than the physical requirement in order to complete the moves for the juggle. It simply is. Landing those juggles consistently means you are the better...

    Why is DOA 5 considered non-competitive ?

Fair enough. Actually, coming from a primarily 2d fighter background, one of the reasons I think I got into DOA moreso than Tekken or VF is the fact that I do have to worry less about execution, and most bnb juggles are pretty easy to remember as well, which allows me to focus on metagame...

    Why is DOA 5 considered non-competitive ?

Fighting games have always been a mix of strategy and execution. Even a series that has pathetically low execution standards such as DOA, so I don't see what point you're trying to make. If player A hasn't memorized his combos, then he hasn't done his homework, and can't maximize his damage...

    Why is DOA 5 considered non-competitive ?

Self imposing opinionated rules that limit what you do while may be more challenging, it doesn't, in any way, shape, or form, make you a better player. Nobody cares about what you think is fair, what you think SHOULD be, the only the matters is the rules laid out by the game. The better player...

    Why is DOA 5 considered non-competitive ?

This is actually completely false. High level play consisted on a lot of high damage lower count unbreakable combos.

"Okay! Ready any time!" The Mila Video thread !

I'm sorry, but I will have a million times more fun playing against someone who can kick my ass with the same 4 moves because he knows how to use them with brutal efficiency, than try and land as many cool moves as possible against scrubs. I see one of two things here. 1. You ARE as good as...

Lagstab - It's a game parlor type place just south of Baltimore. They play magic and fighting games there, with weekly tournaments on Wednesday, and a larger monthly tournament on a Saturday during the month. Most of the players focus on Marvel Capcom stuff for the most part, but you can find...

What method of sidestepping is everyone using?

8/2+3Buttons all the way. Not only do I never accidently get sidesteps that way, but it's quicker to execute. Am I blind or is there no way to change the sidestep method in the middle of a match (like how you pause and change your control layout)? Seems like you can only change your actual...
