You can beat dark souls (all 3 of them) without leveling up once, so hitting a roadblock because of your build is impossible. And you can respec in kingdom come, it's called starting a new save file

Maybe you just haven't figured it out yet.

As for Dark Souls... one really needs to be clear about is or isn't possible....

For instance... can you beat it without leveling at all... this includes Weapon and Armor Upgrades.

It's totally possible, hell I've done it b4. U don't have to worry about armor because your health is gonna be so low that no amount of armor is gonna save you. Dodging is your only salvation. As for weapons...

The best strategy is to get light weapons with high dmg and low scaling, and preferably have a trait that makes it strong vs the enemy you need to fight. All this said, in most SL1 runs in dark souls the only stipulation is no character leveling, but it can b done w/o equip upgrades if u want that extra challenge

Yeah but its impractical.

You essentially have to die to learn an enemies attacks and ambushes.

The best strategy is to just do what you're suppose to do in every RPG... Make Numbers Go Up.

I mean its also possible to play Gears without ever using the cover system but what would the point ?

Lulu - 100% of the world die the first time playing so that's not exactly any different. Dying repeatedly is annoyance, but multiple times is giving you the edge on what to expect the next time you go at it again.

You could have big numbers and you could still die at the game because you still wouldn't know on how to approach the boss. Dying is usually = Lesson learned and what to expect for the next attempt.
DestructionBomb
DestructionBomb
Players learned boss movement and static pattern with motions, along with how huge they recover when they miss the attack, which is your cue on hits. A good way to learn from that is to get hit/die from it (usually can vary) so that you get the feel the next time it's coming.

@DestructionBomb
You weren't listening.

Ofcourse you're going to die your first time playing but you're not suppose to die for every single attack you haven't encountered yet... and yet if you decide to forego upgrading your health... thats exactly whats going to Happen.
DestructionBomb

I am listening. You just portray the game to your own needs and playing on how "you" view things rather than the consistent masses who attempt it on a regular basis.

I'm of the oppinion that if its so blatantly obvious that upgrading health is necessary to not have a crappy experience then why not just make it automatic.

Less time spent balancing the game means more time spent actually playing the game.
DestructionBomb

So make it automatic because you said so or because you thought it was a great idea? maybe, doesn't work that way though.

I portray nothing but tbe obvious. the only difference between Dark Souls and other RPGs is you have less HP, do less damage and have a crappy save system.

Nobody's going to into this game knowing the perfect roll or parry timing. its inevitable and likely the you're going to get hit alot.

It would be nice if each of those hits Didn't Kill You so you don't have to redo all that crap all over again.
DestructionBomb

Again, that's not how it works. You portray the things out of nitpicking because............it doesn't suit you? - Which is what I'm getting out of comments.

There are RPGs in similar fashion, the issue with Dark Souls isn't your health. It's the damage the enemy does which is part of that challenge that players enjoy.

I also enjoy RPGs that are rather neutral and provide a good story telling with a natural system in play. Even lighthearted ones. But those tend to dry out quick and becomes extremely predictable in those circumstances. Dark Souls (or NiOh but not exactly) provide those elements where it becomes a thrill in tough decision making in harsh battles.
