Why are they irrelevant?

having high rank doesn't mean anything because

1. you can just cherry pick your opponents and lvl up that way

2. alot of the players in ranked are garbage, hence why they stay in ranked matches and you'll never catch 'em in a lobby

so basically having hella ranked points doens't mean you're good, it just means you play alot of ranked matches, which doesn't mean anything

You shouldn't lose that much against someone who's HIGHER than you tbh. And I wouldn't go that far, online rank doesn't mean much but you shouldn't discredit players who earned their rank either

Rank is import to some people

But yeah, 900CP lost when I only gained 75 after beating them is wack

that's why you need to buy the game early and beat a lot of noobs for points

It's nice to have a bit of color next to your name but it really doesn't matter that much. If you can beat everyone senseless, people will know who you are. That's all that really matters.

Rank doesn't matter in DOA because it just means you have alot of wins, it doesn't necessarily mean your good. As others have said you can cherry pick players with low ranks or are new to the game and rank up that way.

Most players with LR rank that have a decent knowledge of DOA can beat at least 70% of U ranks

To answer your question though, CP is character points. If they're playing a character they haven't in ranked before, the point scaling will be as if they're new.

Rank is indeed meaningless, this ruby clown with Kasumi was bragging he was the best, me and my B- rank beat him no problem, and afterwards I got the boot out of his lobby.... good times.
