Soul Calibur VI still has more marketing than DOA6 though, and they've been doing preview streams with some fairly big name fans and do SC6 tournaments all the time. DOA6 only has really misinformed articles that manipulate wording, several english and Japanese interviews with Shimbori 80% talking about fanservice... Occasional appearences at shows and trailers. The most exposure DOA6 got was EVO.
@UpSideDownGRUNT Honestly, alot of fighting games outside of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter gets any real kind of marketing(and sometimes, it's only for certain games at times too).
SC6 having consistent tournaments everywhere is primarily because it's a Bamco title that they mostly do with their titles and not many other fighting games do such things so that's not a knock against DOA either.
The PR is definitely not great and the misinformed articles is definitely a bad blow but this isn't really the first time games like these had bad spotlights, only to do well otherwise.
It'll likely do better than SCV, but not by too much. Still too early to tell how DOA6 will do. Though having a DOA6 Core Fighters in the future is definitely a route for TN to consider. But yeah, SCVI is releasing in the quarter amongst some strong competition (COD:BLOPs 4, RDR2, etc.). Hopefully DOA6 has less competition in February 2019.
