I think Dimensions supplanted the original 4 games as cannon. What happens in dimensions is what happened in DOA before 5 now. Its mostly the same I think plus a few details.
It is. People on fsd generally just try to act like its not canon since they feel the story is "bad" even tho it makes more sense than the jumbled mash a hash that was pre DOA games. Either way that's what the time line goes by so it is canon whether people like it or not
It isn't. The DOA 6 page pretty much confirms that by going by the facts of the doa 1 ~4 games instead of the dimesnions retcons, and unless that gets retconned again or there is direct mention towards dimensions, it is not canon.
It's the same story regardless. Until TN directly comes out and says otherwise then I'm assuming that dimensions, the game they advertised as the complete story, is just that.
Doa 1 - kasumi kills raidou and his corpse explodes. DOAD - kasumi and raidou's clash results in explosion. Doa6 page goes wirh doa 1 info. Doa 3 - genra geds kidnapped and turned into omega. DOAD - genra was evil and became omega on his own will. Doa 6 page goes with doa 3 info again. There are major differences and doa 6 seems to be going with the original info and not the retconed one.
of course it is canon. from the summary of the page you can't really tell what they used as their source. but if something it's dimensions, since the doa2 section clearly states that alpha said "hayate is all mine". this certainly did not happen in doa2 but in doad. but i wouldn't trust the page that much since i don't think that the story writers wrote the summaries of the story chapters.
I always felt like Dimensions' retcons were a big 'fuck you' from Team Ninja to Itagaki with regards to DOA's story. I'm glad TN sensibly chose to go with the original DOA1-4's story as opposed to the abomination that is DOAD's story.
Like, DOAD's story would have been more accepted if it filled in the gaps instead of tainting all existing canon story elements. I think DOA3's story fuck-ups were the biggest kicks to the groin to most. However, the retcon that was most egregious was "Hayabusa does everything" instead of "Hayabusa helps out when his friend needs his help." All alternative character "development" was obliterated unless you were Ryu.
That's right, Kasumi didn't defeat Raidou and avenge her brother and clan, she needed Ryu's help to distract him. Genra wasn't a leader of a MT sect and father figure, he was actually a magician who wanted to destroy the world by releasing the Tengu which Ryu (canonically) defeated after helping his friend regain his memory.
