Yeah, have to agree with you about the overrated status of SF games. The reason why they're that big is SF2 set a standard for 2D fighting games and it was also one of the first better 2D fighting games. SF3 had a very bad start. It was only a bit after 3rd strike that the game was considered very good. SFxT was mediocre and the on-disk dlc fiasco didn't help either. The only good SF games were 2 and 4 and 3S.

For some reason I forgot about the titles that weren't numbered (probably because I haven't played most of them). There are a lot of crossover games or other fighting games like Darkstalkers that are good or at least considered good by most people. Still, the fact that they haven't made a good fighting game in almost a decade and SFV is still going strong e-sports wise, despite not really deserving it.

SFV started off as promising. After its release and a large number of schizophrenic decision-making on the part of the staff members, the game ultimately turned into a never-ending sea of mediocrity and "could-have, would-have, should-have."

Lol i thought it was the reverse, it started off very poorly with a small amount of content and straight forward gameplay that offered no freedom or style, but with patch after patch its eventually crawled out of the pit of crappyness to a game that's just above average

R. Mika wasn't the only good thing about SFV, we also had Laura, and the sexy costume designs for the female cast. The only downside (which I wound up boycotting SFV) was they took away the original camera shots that was from the beta release like R. Mika's buttslap.
