I've had online matches with PC that felt like they had less delay than offline PS4.

There is some very, very good justification for the split.

having experienced both, PC is the clear better option, it's less laggy and looks a million times better, but im rocking windows 98 on my rig sooooo yeah, just gotta deal with what i got

My main concern with PC is that we have no indication going into a match of the other player's computer capability. A wired, 5-bar, 5ms connection means nothing, if the other player is on a potato, and the lockstep netcode then reduces the match to a slideshow. One that you're going to be penalized for backing out of, so you're stuck with.

That's not something matchmaking can manage a metric for.

Plus, even in lobbies with people you think you can trust, PC is open to potential cheating in a way that consoles aren't.
