I've chaperoned a few lady-gamer friends in the UK over the years, and it's been a mixed bag of experiences. I can't tell where you're based, but wouldn't expect much different regardless, unless the organizers/hosts were openly marketing themselves as all-inclusive.

Take a friend if you can. Expect, at the very least, some not-so-thoughtful banter. Particularly if you're on form and kicking ass. Salt will flow.

I was talked into playing in a side tourney at evo a few years ago (if that counts). Iirc I was the only girl in said tourney. But I had great time, and everyone was really nice

That's actually a legit concern for alot of ladies who want to venture offline for fighting games so it's not silly at all. my advice would be to go with a friend, but honestly if its for doa I wouldn't worry too much, we're a little too small and niche to be shitty to the few people who actually want to play offline
