Team NINJA owns: Hayabusa, Momiji and Rachel with no license deal required to get them into DOA... not really a guest IMO. Most people should realize a guest is created by a business deal with another company. Before "Shimbori said it..." he's got the business mind-set of someone that just started business school and he changed his story on that twice throughout his god awful interviews for DOA6.
A guest is a character that joins a game that originated in a different franchise and/or game. Wether or not those 2 games share the same universe, or can get into a game without a deal doesn’t mean they’re not guest characters. Your opinion doesn’t really change the fact that those 3 characters are guests.
I would say the agreeing point is there are different levels of guests, and now that they are going to be in two games; it seems silly to call them guests at all. Math equation example: Dead or Alive + NINJA Gaiden = Team NINJA / Dead or Alive + Virtua Fighter = Team NINJA & Sega
Hayabusa is a NG as well as DOA character, he has been in the game and part of the game's story since day one. Momiji and Rachel are guest characters, they were always just additional DLC with no story involvement. Sharing the same universe doesn't make them automatically DOA characters. By that logic every NG would be a DOA character and every DOA character would be NG character by default.
Oh look; it's exactly who I expected.. since I also believe in quad quid pro --- Ahem... Momiji and Rachel were not additional DLC, they were characters installed to the disc. IT also says they joined the tournament via their biography... and they are doing it again because they are TN characters not NG characters.
They’re dlc. In 5 they were added from in a update, which is also DLC. They’re not base characters in 5. Even though Hayabusa is a DOA character as well as NG character, he is still considered a guest to me.
there isn’t a level of guest characters. Either they are or they are not. Team ninja even showed the NG 15 year anniversary logo before they showed her trailer, making it very clear that she is a guest. Periodt.
Fun information here. Hayabusa wasn't even intended at one point to be in a DOA games. Originally it was suppose to be some ninja named Kamui/Karasu but the ninja was scrapped because DOA needed a popular character to jump start/spear head the game to actually get noticed or compete with other games. The only popular character during Tecmo's bankruptcy time was Ryu Hayabusa from the NES days.
