It depends on it's investment and demand. It is possible with fighting games (SF has done it). A heavily budgeted invested game has a bigger chance but mostly depends on the demand from what I hear and the type of companies out there, and confirmation from the platform parent company (Sony, Xbox etc.) to match with PC players.

But see here is also a problem to it all (which Alex Valle brought up a good point one time). PC players will have downgraded latency matched with PS4 players which is a wound to it's entirety for FGs and quality of life. On top of it, PC mods can have an influx of issues when doing something like stage mods as an example etc.

Short story, if I play on PC and console latency is worsening the experiencing, you may as well not crossplay at all because of the hardware used for console.

Oh, I didn't know SF also does crossplay. This is the first game I've learned about doing it between consoles. But yeah, I see what you mean, I was thinking that would be the catch. Ultimately, the rule remains that for the best fights you gotta go offline, lol.

Yeah. Fighting games require every precision it can get to make the best out of it, any type of latency (especially crossplay) can be a strong wound to how a game is played. Other genres can get away with this because most of them don't have to be as precise just to get the best out of it. I fully support crossplay on one other hand, just not a shitty one.

But obviously untested stuff until someone actually does it for games such as Tekken, DOA, SC etc. because people need proof right? though I still think fighting games should do crossplay in the near future just to be safe when console netplay isn't too rubbish along with better technology and less restrictions on crossplay limitations.
