  • If anyone's interested in seeing a casual FG enthusiast's reactions to playing DOA4 for the first time in 2021:

refreshing to see someone react to a DOA with just pure joy (except the total befuddlement at Kasumi's ending, that's pretty typical, lol)

Its perfection. And she brought up Tekken 6. That was the best looking Tekken or maybe TTT2. Idk xbox has the good games

This is how almost everyone was for DOA4 because it was an amazing casual game!! The DOA fanbase doesn’t give 4 enough credit for that

Casual? Thats an easy fix. Just play Sarah or Pai
Hello everyone. Sorry, I've been lurking, but still playing DoA. Sometimes I'm tempted to log in and post news when I see it isn't being posted about here. Like this: https://tinyurl.com/4t9a5xtn

KT's gonna have a 2 hour presentation at TGS (Oct 2) where they have a secret game to show. Also (see my next comment):
"[Street Fighter Zero (Alpha) 3 is] like the Marie Antoinette of fighting games!" - Daigo Umehara

Man, seriously though, nice surprise. I thought Daigo would be this way with SF3TS, not SFA3. But everything he said is PERFECT. I've always felt the same way about it too. Zero/Alpha 2 and 3 are still my favorites in the series, even though I had mixed feelings for the isms. Maybe... take SFA3, remove v-ism, add SF3TS's parry system = perfection?

I'd like to know his opinions on KOF...

I love the alpha trilogy! Also, you can edit grooves in Capcom vs Snk 2 so you can build your own gimmick. Just to bad the ikari warriors team isnt in cvs 2. Now, where is my cake?
    inochinagi
    inochinagi
CvS2 is definitely a classic too

Lol, I have no idea where the cake is... using Marie Antoinette to describe SFA3 has to be one of the most random descriptions I've ever seen.
Suddenly everyone forgets how to tech/ukemi once they hit the island for some volleyball. If they got up any slower they'd be better off using Life Alert.

DOAXBV with more arcade-y gameplay akin to Outlaw Volleyball and characters have moves inspired by their fighting game counter part (like Kasumi being able to teleport around the court, Tina having strong unblockable strikes, etc etc) that's a Volleyball videogame I would play, but as is it now, naw I can't do eeett!

Yeah, there's some ideas it could use from Outlaw, but contol-wise it feels way better. Probably the best controlling volleyball game ever. Reminds me of how it felt playing NES's Super Spike V'Ball or Super Dodge Ball. But it was part of my wishlist for DOAX3 way back before it was ever announced that they put moves from the fighting game into the V'Ball gameplay.

I wanted them to add the guys into DOAX3 just because of the potential of seeing Hayabusa do an izuna spike, lol.
Huh, so Tina's VA sings too. I like it, makes me feel nostalgic.
It's from a 90s anime called Kaitou (Mysterious Theif) Saint Tail

If Yuko Nagashima can sing then that means Tina can sing, and that means Tina should have her own rock equivilant of Blue Mary's Blues by now! A rockstar character with just one (very awesomely while on a skateboard) guitar solo so far? C'mon, TN, you really need to show off more of your characters' characters already. But no, you had to license Aerosmith and Bomb Factory music instead... :p

Oh, really? Wow. I can't believe that's a thing these days... not surprised if Konami is the innovator of this brilliant idea, tbh.

Yakuza 7 has a new game plus dlc, a thing that was present in previous Yakuza games for free, included in the base game, which of course, made fans angry. Whats worse is that this dlc came to PSN JP on April 9 (game's been out there for a while), only costing 7 yen, aka $0.60 but after May 6 it went up to almost 9 dollars, so its not just Konami or KT who has weird dlc practices for some of their games.

It feels like it wasn't so long ago that I considered KT and Sega two of the last still good Japanese publishers. I guess it's just the sad truth of any creative medium... you either die an artist, or you live last long enough to see yourself become Mr. Burns.
Just randomly got $7 from Microsoft o_O they must know I`ve been warming up to them lately... *looks over shoulder*. On a related note, though, I noticed they finally updated the listings on the store for all Xbox and Xbox 360 BC games to be in line with regular XBO listings. I think they`re gearing up to add more games to BC soon, pushing BC as a prominent feature of the next Xbox.

And enhanced SSX Tricky would be perfect in time for November, if not some DoA (cut us some slack, Aerosmith)

Interesting, I got $15.00 for free from PSN earlier this month for the 10th anniversary of PS+.
Found actual footage of Honoka before she joined DOA. (volume warning: sounds of female exertion may be misunderstood by people nearby)
No one can deny that this is way too on-point.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/953310/Trajes_Fatais_Suits_of_Fate/ I've been checking in on this upcoming KOF-style Brazilian fighting game to see how it's doing, and looks like they actually put out a beta demo a few months ago and I had no idea. I tried to run it on my crappy laptop but I can't get past the first loading screen. Anyone here try it?

They have back dash and hyper hops. Combo system seems a bit flexible from the first try but there are so few moves that there isn't much to do. The game looks and feels like a demo. The volume of the sound effects makes it seem like a cheap MUGEN. I hope that by now even by today 08/11/2020 that the product is very different. Right now at this point, there is not much of a point to playing it.

I don't see any P next to the version on the bottom right of the screen. I think I'm really just stuck at the first loading screen, I didn't even make it to the menu, lol. Thanks for the help though. Yeah, since it's actually been nearly a year since they put out the demo hopefully they've improved it by now.

I remember hearing about this game 4ever ago, well sh1t if it's finally comming out I'll definetly give it a go
This came up just back at the end of May this year: https://tinyurl.com/y6tzrtjg

Additions to XBO's BC list has been dormant for a while, I think, so when I read this I was hoping they'd announce some new BC games at the Xbox event that just passed, but nope. I think there's still a good chance we'll see DOA1 to DOA4 on XSX tho.
    inochinagi
    inochinagi
From what I've read, they're saying XSX will be able to play anything XBO does (aside from Kinect stuff), not that it'll be able to play every Xbox and X360 games right away... though I'm hoping they're gonna strive as much as possible to reach that ultimately.

Hey, I just realized SSX3 is BC on XBO with all it's licensed tracks intact. Maybe there's hope for DOA too.
    Moruma

They did not say "every" Xbox and X60 game right away. Lol

No one is saying that Microsoft said that, we're saying the same thing you are. :p
So now that I can't finish DoA2:H*C cuz my PS2 is ded, and I just finished with DOA3, I've moved onto DOAXBV next (these games released in 2000, 2001, and early 2003 respectively, wow). Man I forgot about the pressure sensitive controls. Playing 3 matches of volleyball each day in the game against confident opponents actually has my arms sore :O

I think the VB is legit fun though. The only other game I get the same feel from is the Kunio series Super Dodge Ball on NES, which was an awesome game. I still think this series had the potential to be so much more than then narrow scope the series ultimately followed... the first game actually both sold well and got pretty good reviews.
Wow, I had completely forgotten about this, but (US) DOA3 literally had nothing in terms of unlockables or single player rewards whatsoever, aside from the endings gallery and Ein, eh? That's probably why I hardly remember playing it... This game could really have used an Ultimate version...

One of the times Europe actually won by getting a game last, we got a feature complete version of DOA3 with unlockable costumes and intro etc.

At least the US version got the booster pack afterwards though, the only problem is that it didn't get the gameplay updates. Japan still wins anyways by getting 3.1, what's ultimately considered overall the best version technically by most competitive fans, apparently... (forgot why tho, I would have thought 3.2 would be)

@inochinagi Agreed. DOA3 for US is barebones! The booster packs were only available if you have DOA2U or getting one of the demo discs from Xbox Magazines. What's worse that we didn't get 3.1/3.2 updates. That's why I was confused that I saw some gameplay with moves I didn't see in my version.
Anyone here have any experience with PS2 hardware issues/repairing? My PS2 slim struggles to spin discs, sputters, then stops spinning. I hope it's not a side effect of using swapmagic too much or something. Dammit, just when I was so close to being done with DOA2 Hard*Core too.
