Same with Harada regarding DOA as well. He was willing to put up his own money for DOA6 tournaments for EVOJ as a side tournament, never happened for obvious Core Values reasons. But the guy supports 3D fighters as a whole, so he probably wants to do these things just to flex on Ono and general 2D fighters, (rivalry between 2D and 3D).
The initial companies have their own priorities that doesn't involve reviving old properties (like VF or BR) from a genre that lost their popularity (3D fighters) after when Arcades were closing down, only the popular franchises are the ones that stand (Bandai Namco fighters & DOA).
Another problem would be if these games would gain success compare to the mainstream games while the devs (Ed Boon, Arc, & Harada) want other games to come back, would it be enough to be successful for the initial company brands let alone if there is any demand.
These developers realise that competition is good for the FG genre as a whole. No one wants to see an FG die. It benefits no one. Real talk though, 3D fighters need more leverage. Tekken isn't enough.
