I mean I can see it, trap is basically insinuating that liking a feminine looking guy is basically a trap since they actually have a dick and then all of a sudden the whole "I'm not gay" thing pops up

That's just so dumb lmao. People are trying too hard to make everything about them. The anime community needs to start ignoring these people because all these "issues" and "outrage". You can't just come into a community and go, "That's a slur now because I said so".

Well I think if they wanted to avoid it they could have used a better term to,begin with, traps have always had a controversial stigma xD I mean you can ignore them but I don't feel that's wise if their opinion is valid, I can see both side's views tho so that's probably just me. I wouldn't want to be called a trap personally or a femboy for example

The word trap has been used in the anime community for a long time and it was never a slur. People can't just start categorizing words as slurs whenever they feel like it. And you're saying they should've never used the word "trap" (way back then) because western people suddenly decided to be "outraged" by it now?

This is why people need to start ignoring or start pushing back on western ideas. They love fabricating things out of nothing while acting like they're just doing what is morally right. Turning things into things they never were.

No not because of that, but mainly since the word trap has never been a really positive word, at least the word origin wise. When I think of trap, I think of something deceitful and misleading, and while some may see it as endearing(I somewhat do since I like certain traps) it can be taken negatively too. But I feel like outrage over it is unnecessary although I can see both sides

So, what was the origin that made it so negative? And why should your view of the word take precedence over other people's? Remember, this is a word that already has a specific definition in a community.
