Eh, I think that they went with a 5th season pass because they realized that it is pointless to try and create a brand new game while they haven't fully familiarized themselves with the PS5's power and possibilities plus COVID making work harder and longer since they have to work from home. Oh yeah, also, according to them, Championship Edition received positive feedback, that's another reason.
The truly concerning part of the leaks is that we don't even know in which direction they'd like to take SF6 into in terms of gameplay but they have Ultra Street Fighter 6 already planned after SSF6. If they don't even have faith in SF6 performing well enough to the point that they need to make 3 SEPARATE EDITIONS OF THE GAME, they should just delay their plans with SF6 for 2-3 years.
@ChaolanLegacy SF had the reputation of re-releasing games before SF5 so that was already bad, then SFV happened, and now those SF6 rumors. I really want to get into SF but they are just making it hard to trust them. The plan for multiple releases is already a reason for me to skip the game.
Which is the reason why I think waiting for CE was a smart move from anyone who did it. The gameplay changes are very nice and the extra VT's offer a breath of fresh air to most characters plus it comes with most of the content up until the end of SP4. You'd be surprised with how much stuff SF gets away with just because it is SF and because of the support it gets from its competitive players.
The bazillion re-releases of SF2, the two versions of SF3 before 3rd strike were very disliked, Alpha re-releases, SF4AE and Ultra balancing problems, SF5 was a trainwreck until CE. I'm definitely going to do the same with SF6, I'll be getting the final version or pre-final version of the game, especially if the first version of the game is going to be as mediocre as SF5's was.
I've seen enough double standards in the FGC so nothing will surprise me lol. Waiting to get SF6 isn't bad too. There's bound to be people playing at all times given how big SF is.
