Isn't that like Sony/Xbox server side for DOA though? There's games on PC that use to be on the PS3 that no longer has online support, but stays online on PC until forever. KT doesn't have servers for DOA.

DOA5/6 can probably run forever on PC online though since there is a life span for older gen consoles, not much to say on that unfortunately, especially since the console versions have lobbies.

I don't think they will tbh, the other games never really did that on PS3 and even Dissidia NT hasn't done that and that's a KT game in the same boat as DOA6 except for good xD no servers also means they'd have to likely stop selling dlc like Tekken revolution and SC lost swords

I always felt TN never really wanted to make DOA6 at least not yet. I mean one moment they say taking a break from the title next moment out of no where DOA6 was announced. Seems like they had to do what the higher ups said. They also stopped supporting it. like damn you never know wtf is going on with this company anymore lol. They supported 5 for years. I wouldn't put shutting servers down past them to be honest.

Well they had to discontinue 5LR because people wanted something new and LR was just a HD port of the PS3 game. They also would have continued supporting 6 if people bought their cheap tricks but after the hair color thing I think they had to stop because of the backlash. Plus people weren't so hype about returning packs anymore since that's stuff that should have been in already

I get that, but they still said they were done with the DOA series for awhile. but out of no where DOA6. Just saying TN/ KT more or less seem unpredictable.

Wait, slightly going on topic but DOA isn't even using a dedicated server though for any types of shutdowns though no? Isn't it a matchmaking server on (Player2Player) using the platform it's on as a host (Sony/Xbox)? DOA doesn't even have any online maintenance to prevent you from playing online sort of thing, only games such as Call of Duty / Overwatch do things like that to shut down any servers.

Edit ^ post: Yeah I just asked around, KT has nothing to do with it because they don't own a server. For DOA to shut down, the console service host has to it shut down (The platform that it's on), meaning that in years time, PS3/360 won't continue support for online services, thus rendering DOA5 netplay on those platforms useless.

As long as PC exists on the other hand, DOA5 and DOA6 will remain playable forever.

Well he also said thinking about the future of DOA scares him. So I thought a little more into it from my opinion about how TN/KT seems to be, but it's cool to know they'll still be playable on PC. Just sucks no lobbies for 5, and also Parsec isn't so bad if the connection is good enough, and who knows maybe parsec will be better in the future too. parsec still PC though. so PC it is

Yeah that's like the biggest downside to 5 at the moment. Knowing the fact that the lobby version is tied to the console versions, which in the far future, those versions won't have online anymore except the PC version which lacks lobby. Kinda unfortunate really. Sony and Xbox can't keep running them forever on old gen as it costs money. It makes sense to put the money on present time.

if that happens then we have to use parsec or paperspace. but the servers will be fine.

At this point, just rep the DOA game you like and support it. DB is right though that Sony or Microsoft would have to shutdown the servers for DOA5 or 6. KT will milk DLC sales until said servers get shutdown. The only concern is about when any collabs like Mai & Kula run out.
