Never played any of the modern games, but I have met with some community members and MK commentators IRL a while back (Around MKX). Can't speak from actual game experience, but from chats with them mentioned that if you are familiar with any general 2D fighters from a standard approach, you'd fit in. Genuinely positive chats really, but also possible that I simply ran into the right people.

In terms of the community itself, it's a bit of things. MK community is actually notorious for having a very obvious front when it comes to it's FG culture. It generally ties with how the game is due to the gore and the type of players it's accumulated over the years. Course, you can always mingle with them and see where you go from there.

Basically, like any other standard popular fighting game. You'll be walking on landmines with how your experience is going to be, can be good or bad. This one is a western developed series, so it's more populated with the personalities from out here, compared to say a JPN developed game and JPN scene where the respect culture is different. Also depends based on how long you'll play it to find out.

But this kinda varies with how you want to approach it. As a casual player or competitive, because the two do exist in there. At times also varies with who you meet in there.

Like any other fighting game, there are good apples and bad apples of people with communities, and MK is no exception to that bit.

@GreatDarkHero @Force_of_Nature can probably vouch from what I wrote, you can probably also ask @Radiance @Camel with 2 thumbs via forums/online/gameplay/difficulty talks with the community.

Personally I have no interest in the series besides watching tournaments so can't confirm/deny. Only from IRL chats.

I am somehow admin on the tym and kabal forums and the more competitive players are all like brothers and super nice, guess because we are all metalheads. On a casual or online level...oh boy. The game killed itself and all you will do is facing Sheevas with her op stomp. Nrs even banned a pro player for exposing them lol and you'll get death wishes every 5 matches

People on TYM are okay I guess. The rest? Shit. MK isn’t that hard to get into

@DestructionBomb is in the right.
I actually went to Test Your Might to get some information on older 3D titles, MK9, and then Injustice 2. Each time, the people I spoke to were pretty decent and were also welcoming. As for the games themselves, if you are used to the idea of playing 2D fighting games, it should not be overly difficult. Just keep in mind that you have a block button.

Thanks for the info. Helps a lot actually. Any idea how long Mortal Kombat 11 will be a thing before a new one comes? Im expecting it to get another sequel at some point since its MK.
