You probably need a modded original Xbox. I wished Team Ninja updated the American version to 3.1/3.2 with the Platinum Hits version of DOA3 so we can experienced the game. Sega did theirs with games such as Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast for the Sega All-Stars version patched to 1.1

Only way to play 3.1 on an American Xbox is if the American Xbox is soft or hard modded. Either is cheap to do these days.
