As long as the tourney holders and organizers are willing to pay up for a top of the line one for events I think it's good. I don't think itll be a main platform atm since a top of the line PC is more expensive than a regular console generally nowadays, especially for ones that can run a fighting game without any issues or stutters if the PC is strong enough which consoles don't typically need to worry about

I was actually excited for the Steam Deck. Still am.

There was talks about this over at Discord with Matt. It'll still be difficult due to the push and convenience of the consoles, despite that the Steam Deck looks more convenient than a console ITSELF lol. Yet events still want to use consoles.

I'm pushing for it, but the rest of the FGC just doesn't seem to care for some reason. And when it gets brought up, some event managers want to dismiss it for some reason.

Then there's PC where most of the excuse from the FGC is "oh it's a hassle because my stick/controller gets bugged out or won't work properly". When most of that stuff can get corrected on the fly.

Yup, the Steam Deck is smaller than consoles and are very comparable in power, though the XseX & PS5 have more power overall than it (though would you rather haul PS5's (or XseX's to a lesser extent) or Steam Decks?) If the Deck gains momentum, it could be a considerable game changer due to its versatility. Oh, and you can use a wider range of controllers of course.

There's also the case of sponsors. Especially events like EVO. Some particular tournaments will get sponsored by Sony or some other brands that deal exclusively to consoles, so events feel that it would wound them without those sponsors for credibility and reputation. All this is tied to the root, money.

I support it 100%. Just kinda wished they stop to try and find ways of seeking disadvantages to it rather than looking into the positive for it.

I'd tell them try it first for a year, and if it's bad stuff or it becomes major actual issues for it? then that's fine, least they actually tried it (least I hope they would try it for a year).

The logistics of shipping assembled PCs in bulk is probably more involved than it is for consoles. PCs have been used for decades in RTS/FPS events, though. Maybe costs are a factor.

As for the Steam Deck, I wonder if storage might be an issue (thinking about Tekken storage requirements, for example). Also, I don't know if Proton's performance and compatibility are good enough yet.
