The second half of the game seriously is quite frankly awful in comparison to the first half. It almost singlehandedly undermines a lot of the strengths of the first half. IMHO, I'd say that the first half of Tales of Arise is a 10/10 GOTY quality game. The second half just felt like the writers really couldn't help themselves... Really dropped the ball (Still think that Tales of Arise will win RPG of the Year.)

Essentially I recommend playing the first half of Tales of Arise because its overall design is downright brilliant. If you're digging the story, and everything about the game you can play through the second half if you want, but with the warning that it will likely sour your 1st Half experience. Even with that in mind, I still give the game an edge over Berseria.

On a different note, Pelegion & Rena have to be two of the most fucked places I've experienced in video games. Rena in particular was also pretty painful.

I haven't beaten it yet but I'm at the point of no return and I have to agree... first half of the game was fantastic but the second half is marginally worse especially once you get to the final area. Even the side quests take a nose dive with most becoming go to A, beat a rediculously strong boss and back to B again.

Yeah the later bits of the game felt rushed, it's almost as if finding their past was incredibly lacking. It was definitely worth the full price though in my opinion ahaha.

It's definitely my favorite when it comes to the gameplay of the series, but unfortunately the entirety of it is something I don't keep high praise. Not even sure which I like more between Berseria and Arise. I still want to keep Abyss and Vesperia as my two favorite Tales games that has done everything right with the exception of outdated gameplay, but I'd still pick them over Arise.

Like man, I get that they want to try something new but I especially miss this. Overworld maps with the option for a mass expanse on travels make the game seem bigger than it is:
