DOA3, DOA2U & DOA1U are remastered on the otherhand.

I mean they look cleaner and more clear but I don't count them as remasters, it's just the games running on stronger hardware like Dimensions which looks way better and crisper on PC even tho TN didn't go back and actually remaster anything. I see them as just BC but not remastered unless TN officially confirms they remastered it

They look crisper tho on Xbox current gen and they run better too which I can say is an improvement tho

Yeah, they look crisper for sure. On an Xbox Series X, DOA3/DOA2U/DOA1U look a lot better than the originals, especially if you have a 4K screen. Don't underestimate how much Xbox's backwards compatibilities bolster their older games.

Yeah usually the term gets pretty loose. Generally a remaster is getting the base game to alter/change the filter, improve scaling, reduce compression, reduce loading etc. Backwards compatible is pretty close though, but some backwards compatible games are also straight ports with forced scaling.

Sometimes backwards compatible do adjust these while being played through software emulation or even use your own disc while forcing the game to run at a higher resolution without quality loss.

In a way, it definitely is a refreshing bit as DOA vids from DOA4 and earlier games you couldn't exactly get a good footage these days. DOA4 for example actually ran at 720p native with possible 1080i scale. Now you can grab footage of those earlier titles at 1080p and higher thanks to BC. Unfortunate it's on Xbox but eh.

Depends on what is meant by "remaster". I admit that I'm using the term loosely, because heavily increasing the resolution to modern standards is a form of "remastering". Question: Is Demon's Souls 2020 a "remake" or a "remaster"? After Resident Evil 2 Remake and Final Fantasy VII Remake the meaning of remake/remaster may have changed.
