Also to add that if it becomes an actual thing, you can bring both the 1v1 game and 2v2 version of it at events. Two DOA games at events, community features both sides of players, both sides have something to play etc.

It may be a chance that it'll be a waste of money because not many people play DOA at all so the community is pretty damn small, but it's also a waste of money adding it to the standalone base 1v1 game anyway lol.

I don't think anyone can really say it's copying Tekken either since 2D games had tag games too and Tekken just jumped on the formula. I personally don't want a standalone game since I can't see it really progressing the story and I think everyone knows it's not really competitive

I remember someone had once showed me this lame video of them death juggling their opponent online with a Rachel and Momiji combo and they somehow felt happy and better since they made their opponent cry or something and that kinda turned me off, tag imo is more fun than anything worth taking seriously

@KasumiLover Yeah the whole tag play has been a mode feature long before all of it. X-men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom etc. I mostly meant the premise of a 3D fighter doing it since Tekken was the first one to actually do it in reality lol, but you are right 100% that it was long before any of that.

Personally I'd avoid tag all together and always felt it was just there for the fun factor, but then I get reminded that tag requires resource, requires time, requires focus, requires animation work for intro/outro/tag throws. And if Tag specifically impact the overall game where the initial game was solely based on 1v1 anyway, I kinda don't want it in either lol.

DOA tag tournament could definitely be it's own thing, with it's own mechanics and balancing, which would be nice since Tag modes are fun but busted in most DOA games (definitely was in 3 and 5, not sure about 2 and 4)

but with TN showing zero interest in the fighting game side of things I wouldn't hold my breath

Then there's a community that's centered around it and because there's a sort of community for it, it creates sparsity, poison picks I guess. Harada built upon it for Tekken as he felt that if people want that feature to be a thing it should be it's own game which I can agree in some form if it's tailored for it.
