In LR, I think Kasumi, Mai, and Hitomi are the best to start with since they're easy and effective, Naotora and Momiji are too but linear. In 6 Kasumi, Kula, and I feel Tamaki are the best to start with since they're all quite strong and easy to learn. Mai is too still but she's been toned down so she's not as straightforward as before

if you want to learn how to play naotora, play naotora
however if you want to learn how to play doa, do not play naotora, her skillset is not very doa-y and doesn't translate well into other characters, Mila and Hitomi are much better starters if you're new and trying to learn the game

Use whoever you like tbh, naotora is just as DOA as anyone else and she teaches more in regards to learning to mix up. Mila tho I don't recommend since she's a bit tougher to learn, Naotora's a better choice for ease of use
