Will admit, at this point I do miss when they used the numbers for SSJ enhancements / forms. I thought it would be weird if forms went up to SSJ5/SSJ6 or whatever, but to have different names for them is now actually weird.

-Then-

"Ahaha, SSJ5 sounds silly"

-they gave it new names like SSGSSB-

"...........actually... nevermind maybe numbers might be better."

I like the number system as well but if we got to a point of SSJ 8,9,10 then we'd be complaining about nothing changing, so it's dammed if you do, dammed if you don't

They are running out of ideas honestly. Dragon Ball has just gotten too crazy. Super was cool, but I feel like DBZ should have ended at the cell saga. Also, poor Nozawa, she's in her 80's still doing these characters.

I actually rewatched Super recently, it's alot better than I remember, think back then I just got caught up in all the hate and negativity that surrounded it while it was airing

and while I don't agree that DBZ should of ended with the Cell saga, I would of prefered it if Toriyama went with his original plan of making Gohan the main character after the Cell arc, but alas that's not what happened :/

@Raansu: I feel like I'm the only one who still remembers Tetsuro from Galaxy Express 999 was Nozawa's Goku before Goku.

Good times.

Toriyama planned on ending DBZ at the Cell saga. Its why it ended the way it did and why the Buu saga is so all over the place. Everything now with the new movies/super is just basically yolo now lol. Outside of essentially giving out rough drafts and designs, he's barely involved in anything dragon ball now.

@Camel with 2 thumbs I rewatched Super again like 2 years ago & still felt the same for it, had a OG Dragon Ball binge all the way towards Super while skipping majority of filler episodes+movies. Super just feels too lighthearted with quality of details being a severe step down from Z. The atmospheric tone, music, and suspense was not the same vs OG DB+Z, but I did enjoy Super for what it is though.

At the same time it's also understandable to some of the direction and moving on from it. Some of the older styles and snaps was expensive. SSJ3 Goku was the most expensive thing they did I hear where they needed like 40+ key animators to get a scene right against Kid Buu or some shit because of the hair alone (which most of peeps behind DB did not want to do in general).
